Two properties, House and Barn. Let separately.
(The house with a 90 square metre courtyard is situated on the other side of the road to the barn).
A perfect base to explore rural France and to enjoy the history, attractions, excellent climate and charm of the Vendee. Spend a day on the Atlantic beaches of Sable d'Olonne, La Tranche or La Faute or alternatively take a boat out in the Marais Poitevin (the 'Green Venice' of France). The cities of Nantes and Poitiers are within easy striking distance by car for superb restaurants and shopping. Plus, Sigournais is only 25km from the Puy du Fou theme park, the second most popular tourist attraction in France after the Eiffel Tower.
Local sights include restaurants, markets, picturesque villages, lakes for swimming (5 mins away), swimming pool in Chantonnay, fishing, watersports, forests, horse riding, golf, walking, cycling, châteaux, bird life, and beaches. See our website for more details.
The shop at Sigournais is only 5 minutes away whilst the nearest large shopping centre is just 10 minutes away in Chantonnay.
The House has a lounge, one bedroom is a double, the second bedroom can have 2 or 3 single beds with an en suite.

We accept flexible changeover days for the house only.
We prefer weekdays as it is physically impossible to clean both houses on the same day and our other property has a change over day of Saturday but please talk to us about what you would like to do.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need.
The house will sleep 7 people. Bedroom 1 has a double bed,. bedroom two has 2 or 3 single beds and an en suite. Please advise us if you need the 3rd single bed.
There is also a sofa bed in the lounge.
There is a bathroom, a separate wc and a shower room en suite to the single beds bedroom.
Electric central heating in all rooms plus a wood burner in the lounge and one in the bedroom with the single beds.
TV with both French and English channels. Music centre. Plus numerous cds dvds Videos as well as book, games etc.
90 metre walled courtyard with a bbq table and chairs for 7, parasol, loungers.
Parking is 5 yards from the house
This is farmland and is home to many cows and is unlikely to appeal to pet owners. The upside is that you can buy eggs and milk at the farms.
You can see owls, herons, redshanks, green woodpeckers, kingfishers, avocets, terns, lapwings, storks, egrets, hoopoes, buzzards, hawks, curlews, stilts, spoonbills, eagles, otters.
A local market every Saturday morning situated in the square Les Halles in Chantonnay. Fresh produce all locally produced (next to the tourist office).
Nantes/La Roche/Poitier/La Rochelle
There are 4 golf courses all within an hours drive. These are Les Fontenelles. Famous for its driving range, this golf course with its many hedgerows provides an excellent success of water features, maritime pine and oaks over 2 miles. La Domangére. The highest slope in France with a wealth of shots to be played, this is a delightful course that those in search of new challenges will want to experience. (This is supposed to be one of the more difficult golf courses in France). Port Bougenay. On the edge of the sea and bordering an enclosed forest, this golf course overlooks the marina of Port Bourgenay. With hedgerows and pine forest, this course provides a two-in-one experience. Maxieres en Gatine. Set amongst lakes and ancient trees, this course produces surprise after surprise behind each hedgerow.
Eat with the locals. 11 Euros for 4 or 5 courses with wine at lunch time, not a lot of choice but that increases the experience! Amazing value.
This is the most famous brasserie in all of France, a truly wonderful experience. You can dine a la carte or surprisingly they have a 15 and a 25 Euro menu!
Five mins from the Barn. The lake has a beach for swimming. The Morliere restaurant where there is a bar or you can dine. You can picnic around the lake, fish for carp or just enjoy the outstanding views and the tranquillity.
Spend a day at the beaches of Sable d'Olonne, La Tranche or La Faute, take a boat out in the Marais Poitevin (the green Venice of France). Go for lunch in La Rochelle and antique hunt in the afternoon or see the sights. The Lac du Rochereau, is 5 minutes from the Barn and probably one of the most beautiful spots you have ever seen. You can swim from its beach, take a boat out, have a picnic, admire and paint the views or try fishing for carp. Go for a day's sightseeing or shopping in Nantes or Poitiers. Nearby there is horse riding, horse racing, surfing, watersports, cycling, running, golfing and even night clubs for the enegetic! Also there is ballooning, bird-watching, walks, forests, canoeing and many places of historic interest, markets, a zoo, villages, lots of bars and restaurants for the not so energetic. Sigournais is only 25km from the Puy du Fou, the second biggest tourist attraction in France after the Eiffel tower. This is a spectacular day out for all the family.
Kinours is approx a 5 minute drive away where you can lunch with the locals on 5 courses with unlimited wine for approx 11 Euros. Saturnin is approx a 5 minutes walk, this is a bar but also does workmen's lunches week days and food, lunch and evenings at weekends but will open especially for you week day evenings, but you have to book. There are lots of restaurants in Chantonnay that cater for all tastes.
Vouvant, Marais Poitevin, La Rochelle, Sable d'Olonne, La Faute, Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, La Tranche, Nantes, Poitier, Ile d'Yeu, Parthenay, Mervent Forest and the zoo.
