What is a gite? For people new to the concept, a French "gîte" is not a hotel but truly your holiday home without all the fuss of having to buying one.  As such, you are expected to look after it while living in it, as you would with your own house. We the owners’ live on the property and look after the premises regarding everything to do with maintenance. On the Saturday changeover, the previous holidaymakers have a duty to leave the gîte clean, but we check to make sure everything is fine before you arrive. We also make the beds for you... The original concept, which still exists with some gîtes, was to bring your own bed linen!
Each one of our gîtes is registered with our Mairie, the town hall in St Julien-des-Landes, and has a 3 star rating (for sleeping 4 peole comfortably) from the Préfecture de Vendée /Atout France, renewed in Nov. 2016.

Gîte Camélia is one of 3 charming newly-built gîtes with exposed beams, located in the quiet rural hamlet of La Richard. All the gites have their own double french windows as the main entrance.  We have a very pleasant, spacious undulating gardens with numerous trees, 5500 m2, and next to the gîtes is a large, secured swimming pool (10m x 5m ) with a Jacuzzi step.

The swimming pool is shared by the "3 gites". They are never overcrowded as it is meant for our holidaymakers, and open from beginning of June to end of September.  Gîte Camélia is the nearest to the pool and enjoys the most privacy.

9.5 / 10 McNamara Family 5 September, 2019

A lovely clean and comfortable gite in a quiet rural setting. Very friendly and generous hosts both english and french speaking. The gite was very well stocked with bedding, towels, d/w tablets, washing powder and other household items with a very good selection of indoor and outdoor games for children and Sky TV. Super swimming pool, with plenty of inflatables and children's toys. The fridge was very generously stocked for our arrival. We had a fabulous holiday and I would definitely recommend this gite.

10 / 10 jamiejane 11 August, 2019

Our seventh year staying here, the gite was immaculate as ever and Graham and Christine go out of their way to provide a personal touch ensuring that all members of the party feel welcomed.
We thoroughly recommend a stay here.

10 / 10 VikeGirl 6 August, 2018

This was our 6th stay at this Gite. The Gite is very comfortable and has everything you need. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. The pool is fantastic with lots of inflatables for the kids (and adults) to play with.

The Vendée is a lovely area of France. Great beaches and lots of family activities. There is also so much history in this region as well. Plenty to do to keep you coming back for years.

Owner response
