What is a gite? For people new to the concept, a French "gîte" is not a hotel but truly your holiday home without all the fuss of having to buying one. As such, you are expected to look after it while living in it, as you would with your own house. We the owners’ live on the property and look after the premises regarding everything to do with maintenance. On the Saturday changeover, the previous holidaymakers have a duty to leave the gîte clean, but we check to make sure everything is fine before you arrive and we make the beds for you... The original concept, which still exists with some gîtes, was to bring your own bed linen!
Each one of our gîtes is registered with our Mairie, the town hall in St Julien-des-Landes, and has a 3 star rating (for sleeping 4 peole comfortably) from the Préfecture de Vendée /Atout France, renewed in nov. 2016.
Gîte Rose is one of 3 charming newly-built gîtes with exposed beams, located in the quiet rural hamlet of La Richard. All the gites have their own double french windows as the main entrance. We have a very pleasant, spacious undulating gardens with numerous trees, 5500 m2, and next to the gîtes is a large, secured swimming pool (10m x 5m ) with a Jacuzzi step.
The swimming pool is shared by the "3 gites". It is never overcrowded as it is meant for our holidaymakers, and open from beginning of June to end of September. Gîte Camélia is the nearest to the pool and enjoys the most privacy.

Wonderful accommodation which would be great for 4 but was a little cramped for 6.
Hello Cate and Iain, thank you for your kind review.
The gîtes do have a 3 star rating on the base of sleeping 4 people comfortably, not 6, a fact that we do put forward in your contract, page 2 : "The three star rating is based on occupancy of 4 people and so each gîte sleeps 4 people comfortably."
The sofa bed is there in case an adult prefers to sleep on a big bed rather than a narrow bunk-bed, really.
One your daughters had to sleep on the sofa-bed and a mattress added on the floor of the living-room for the extra guest who was not expected until you informed us about him the month before your arrival. This meant that the space was indeed reduced in the main room. I would have advise you to book 2 gîtes instead of one - which you are considering for coming back next year and we thank you for your trust and appreciation.
Also, we are going to contact Holiday France Direct so that they reduce the number of sleeping accommodation from 4 to 6 (they manage thsi part of our adverts). I will however still mention that an adult can choose to sleep on the sofa bed instead of the bunk bed (for Gîtes Jasmin + Gîte Rose).
Kind regards, Christine
Our 7th year at Gites Du Parc and it is still just as great as the first year. A few tweaks have been made and all of these improve the stay. The gite is fantastically presented with great facilities (Huge fridge freezer with an ice maker, dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave and each gite has its own brick barbecue outside.
Lovely tranquil setting with a great pool and the supermarket is only 5 minutes away and has everything you could ever need.
Merci beaucoup Colin !
It has been a pleasure to host you, Johanna and the girls again this year as we do appreciate your company too :)
I'm glad you liked the changes made here and there : always trying to improve :)
Also, the huge new Lidl we ordered ^^ - next to the Super U - has made new fans this year.
Graham was only sorry there was no good local football matches you both could have gone to - but it hopefully it will be the case next year ;)
We have also found new local, tranquil and beautiful beaches & restaurants on the beach that we can safely recommand to you next year so it can be different from your previous stays even :)
See you next year !
This was our 6th year at Gite Rose and we still love it. The Gites are really well equipped to make it a home from home. Our kids love the pool so it gives us a relaxing holiday. Hosts are fab and put on an aperitifs evening which gives you better chance to meet fellow guests. Had a good laugh with fellow guests and the children played together nicely. All in all, a perfect holiday.
We have visted the gite du Parc twice now and would recommend a stay. The owners are so friendly, welcoming and approachable, even the dog! The gite itself is well equipped, comfortable, clean and has many little welcoming touches, including an evening meal for all visitors which is a good way to meet and get to know your neighbours. The grounds and pool are well maintained with a wide variety of children's entertainment games. The village the Gites are located in is quiet and is lovely to wander round of an evening, with the dog having a selection of favourite walks and will guide you round!
We are drawn to the Vendee region and its vast beaches and The owners are very knowledgeable of the area and provide a variety of suggestions of places to visit and do, but it's also relaxed enough to chill by the pool or upon your gite patio.
We I'll certainly return for many a year to come and have made some good friends from our visits.
