Why this location? Close and convenient to the pretty, and historic town of Fontenay Le Comte. Ideally positioned in the South Vendee to visit all the region has to offer. Quiet, village location.
Unique benefits of property Stunning traditional French house with large, light and airy rooms. (The first house we actually viewed and knew, immediately, the potential it had.) Adding extra bath/shower rooms to the accommodation is very well appreciated by all our guests. The modern kitchen has everything anyone needs and all the rooms have been fully refurbished to make this house a home from home.

10 / 10 The Wheeler Party 7 October, 2019

A fabulous house in a lovely quiet area of France. While our arrival was relatively late, after a long drive, Hugh was awaiting us, and showed us around. The accommodations were great, with lots of space, even through we were a small party.
While the weather wasn't great, we had a good week with plenty of opportunities to visit in the area, for all weather options.
At the property, there are also many options to keep you entertained, from the pool, to games room, and options for eating inside or out as you see fit.
Overall, a lovely location, with great attention to detail.
Sad to hear that Hugh and Gill have sold up, but wishing them all the best in their retirement nearby, and hope to meet up on a future trip.

Great 5 day break
Fabulous accommodation, immaculate, very comfortable and well equipped. And a very comfy bed!
Beautiful tasteful decor, with a lovely swimming pool and gardens, plenty of room for outside dining and relaxing.
You couldn’t ask for more friendly and helpful hosts Gill and Hugh, they have a wealth of knowledge on local facilities, markets and the best places to eat.
Lots of interesting places within easy driving distance I loved La Rochelle with its pretty port, restaurants and shopping
I can highly recommend La Fleur de lys
And will definitely book again

9.3 / 10 Padcop stay 13 August, 2018

This was a perfect venue for our stay, our party consisted of 2 families both of which have 3 young children and there was more than enough room. It is exactly as the photos describe, Gill and Hugh are very friendly and on hand if needed. They are full of information on the local area and we visited several places recommended to us. Laq de Chassenon is a great place to visit and only 10 minute drive, it has inflatables and slides in the water. La Rochelle and La Tranche Sur Mer are also worth a visit. Both have lots to do for all ages. Fontenay Le Comte itself is a stunning town full of history, the walk recommended by the Office de Tourisme is well worth it as it shows you all the sites. We would love to revisit the house again. The children all loved the pool area and games room where there are many different games/inflatables on offer. Thank you for making us so welcome.

10 / 10 The Wheeler Family 12 August, 2018

We had a fabulous week here!

The villa was beautiful and in wonderful condition. We each had our own bathrooms which was great and the bedrooms nicely decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped. Our 6 year old loved the games room especially the table tennis and table football. The pool was lovely and it was great to use the volleyball set available - the grandparents enjoyed watching all the activity from the shaded seated area!

Gill and Hugh were perfect hosts and very helpful in helping us making appointments we needed and giving tips on local restaurants etc. Particularly grateful to Gill for making a fuss of our daughter and giving her ice creams and inviting her to try her hot tub!!

We were so happy in the villa that we didn’t go out much during the week but we did go to Le Pinky and would recommend as lovely food and nice atmosphere outside in the courtyard.

Thank you so much to Gill and Hugh. We hope to return!
