In a classic French village 3 min walk to the boulangerie, cafe, restaurants, butcher, grocer, pharmacy, church, post office and other shops. The villa is completely refurbished, self catering and private, with a heated pool with generous shallow area for sitting in a few inches of water with little ones. Furnished sympathetically to retain it's French charm. All windows are wooden framed with wooden shutters. Some original, some new in the traditional style.

Situated in Angles village, the summer market market sets up twice a week through the streets selling fresh produce including cheese, shell fish, fruit, veg, rotisserie cooked meats, fish, pates, olives as well as sun hats and clothes. The village bustles all year with its French residential population.
Just a 4 mile drive to the local beaches of La Tranche sur Mer along the adjacent coastline, each beach has a different feel to it, there is a choice of many. Some are better for surfing, they are all clean, sandy and gently sloped. There are tide tables in the villa.

The villa dates from the mid '60's and has it's own character which has been retained in the refurbishment. Some natural characteristics common in older French buildings remain. All window frames and their shutters are original and have been restored.
The rear french doors and their shutters are new hardwood and have special glass to keep the back of the villa cool on warm days.
Arrival day is offered as Friday to minimise travel costs and journey congestion.

The same unit is a heater if required in non summer weeks.
The bathroom and shower room are both equipped with high wattage radiators which are used as towel rails all year round.
Free wi-fi. Tv and dvd player. The tv seems to offer everything apart from making a cup of tea, but not all features are valid in France. Netflix is now available in France via the tv. There are Sky freeview channels and many French tv channels.

Grandparents might prefer to occupy the ground floor bedroom with adjacent shower and wc. This bedroom opens directly onto the south facing rear garden via french doors.
Suitable for couples, families and family get-togethers. The french doors in 2 of the upstairs bedrooms open onto a balcony with railings at the front of the house. Children must be supervised when the balcony french doors are open.
Non-moulting dogs accepted at our discretion, please ask. Guide dogs welcome of course.

Two travel cots, there is room for a cot in 3 of the 4 bedrooms.
Linens, bath towels, hand towels and large beach towels, pool heating, air con, wifi. There are also several beach mats replaced each year.
To secure your dates a 50% deposit of the holiday rental is payable, upon receiving your booking request we will contact you with payment details. The balance minus your booking fee of £29 plus a damage deposit of £300 is payable 10 weeks before your holiday starts.
The owner enjoys a French escape from the daily routine of being an accountant based in Twickenham. Sharing the villa and area with guests since letting it has been and continues to be a great source of pleasure. The aim is cover the annual running costs and not to profit from rentals. Any spare Euro found languishing in the croissant purse is saved and spent on the villa. Carpets at home in Twick are looking neglected.

|Why this location?||It's in the ideal spot in a village with plenty of restaurants, small shops and French year round residents and also only 10 minutes from the Vendée beaches. It's close to two airports, La Rochelle and Nantes, there are many vineyards to visit and tastings to be done together with elegant coastal towns including Les Sables D'Olonne and La Rochelle. Inland from the villa is Lucon, Fontenay Le Compte and many other quaint French towns all with restaurants, parks and culture to visit.|
|Unique benefits of property||It has character and original features with modern conveniences such as air conditioning and wi-fi. The private garden is a good size and faces south with a private heated in-ground pool. It is a 5 minute walk at the most to a croissant, cafe, beer, market and most other needs. It is value for money, aiming to cover the annual running costs only.|
All the wines in the French shops with a simply drawn owl logo come from this vineyard. The approach from the main road is open and easy to spot from the car. About 30 mins from the villa this wine tour and the tastings are very interesting. They are welcoming and allow you to walk with a guide through the actual bottling area and the entire wine making process. They have organic wines to try as well as sparkling reds. Well worth a visit.
Open 365 days of the year and wonderful. Reasonably priced and highly recommended by previous guests with young children as a good day out.
On Sundays and Wednesdays the market brings the best of French fruits, meats, rotisserie chickens, cheeses, salamis, wines, breads, fish, shellfish, salads, vegetables and plenty of souvenirs for the children.
Historic monument in the pretty town of Fontenay-Le-Comte. www.chateau-terreneuve.com. Similar to a National Trust experience.
There are many cycle tracks in the Vendée. Cycle hire shops are in La Tranche sur Mer and other villages near by. There are guide books on cycle tracks at the Angles tourist office.
Good family day out, whizzing on zip wires and climbing through courses up in the tree canopy. It has 4 different courses and many other activities. Restaurants are on site. It is approximately 15 minutes away in the car, in Moutiers-Les-Mauxfaits.
There is an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. We recommend it in the late afternoon for a relaxing swim before eating in one of the many La Tranche-sur-Mer restaurants. The outdoor pool is open until 7pm in the summer.
Landscaped gardens surround the chateau. Activities within the beautiful and extensive grounds stimulate both children and parents of all ages. It is in the pretty town of Avrille.
Just 4 miles down the road is the local beach with miles of sandy beach with a shallow gradient. It is along one straight road from Angles to Les Conches.
About 20 mins inland from the villa Lucon is a pretty town with cafes, restaurants, shops and a huge church. Worth a visit.
From June 2016 there is a new water park about 15 minutes drive from the villa. It's on the road towards Lucon.
Our favourite restaurant in Angles, and it is far from just pizza's, although they are good, the owners David and Emilie are both from the border of France with Switzerland and create great food every night and always with a smile. Best to book on weekend nights. Scallops, lamb shank, steak, chicken, wonderful salads, frogs legs, snails, prawns are all on the menu at varying times through the seasons. Tel 02 51 97 58 41. David speaks good English and helps with your French. The best part, it is a five minute walk from the villa. L'Etage restaurant is in La Tranche sur Mer and never fails to produce excellent food and great service. All the meat and fish is cooked on a grate over embers in the restaurant. Summer eating on the terrace should be booked in advance. 10 Rue de Artistide Briand, 85360 La tranche sur Mer +33(0)2 51 30 01 02 La Grille de la Forge is also in La Tranche and produces fine food, fish, steaks, huge burgers and much more. Up the coast, about 25 mins in the car is this handsome town with tall architectural buildings, an expanse of beach stretching along the length of the town. Shops, restaurants, cafes and a Zoo as well as the amazing beach, but as you have beaches much nearer you may probably visit Sables for the town and just stand and stare at the enormous beach. Beautiful.
There are surf shops with all equipment for hire and lessons available. Les Conches beach and La Terrier beach and La Tranche Sur Mer beach have all options including windsurfing and kite surfing with hire of wetsuits if required. This is just 4 miles away. Body surfing is great especially at La Terrier, the beach is wide and slops gradually, the waves come in fairly straight with low current.
One of the best activities is to sit outside at the bar with a tea, coffee, shandy, lager, wine, something stronger and watch the world go by. Just a 5 minute walk from the villa.
There are a large selection of local restaurants to choose from. Some within walking distance in the village, Angles, and many more just 10 mins by car in La Tranche. We have yet to find a bad one.
There is a new water park now open just 10 minutes from the villa. It is called O'Gliss and is owned by the same team as Indian Forest, a 'Go Ape' type of adventure activity destination for all ages.
Another wonderful week in this extremely comfortable property. Clean and well-equipped as always, with easy, friendly communication with owner. Pool was perfect for our young children and we had quick access by car to great beaches. Thank you!

The advert gave an accurate description of the property and it was very clean, well maintained and well equipped. The owner of the property was always very helpful and gave lots of information about the property and the area. We would definitely recommend this property to family or friends. We were a party of 8, ages ranging from just 4 to 72. We spent a lot of time in the lovely swimming pool which was properly heated and in a private sunny garden. We also loved the village of Angles where there was everything we needed including an excellent market twice a week with fresh produce and stalls where the children could spend their holiday money. There are two Boulangeries and an excellent butcher. The restaurants were varied and we tried and enjoyed them all. We visited the nearby beaches of Les Conches and St Vincent sur Jard and also La Tranche sur mer, all of which were beautifully clean and sandy and great for water sports as well as swimming with small children. All beaches had lifeguards. We also visited the town of La Rochelle which was about 1 hour away and an excellent day out. Some of our party like to cycle - including the 4 year old - and the cycle paths nearby are very good and safe. We all agreed that it had been a great holiday and a great choice of venue and area.

We have just returned home after a 2 week stay. It was the best holiday we have had in years’ thank you! Our 3 year old son keeps referring to our real home as 'our old home' He felt right at home within minutes, as did we:)
The villa is spacious, thoughtfully designed in a modern way but in keeping to the age and location of the property. It is calm, clean and really comfortable. It is light and airy and had everything you could possibly need. The pool was amazing and we spent every afternoon - literally in it! It was a wonderful temperature so it meant you could stay in for as long as you wanted even on a cooler day:)
The information that Lisa provided in terms of what to do in the area was outstanding and will suit every age and interest! We loved Les Conches beach but all of the beaches in the area are great. Wine tasting was great fun and the nearby towns are all in easy reach.
The village was just a short 5 minute walk away and had a lovely feel to it everyone was so friendly. The butchers, bakery and restaurant La Trattoria were nothing short of amazing:)
