This is a superbly well equipped and clean Gite with access to a large pool and garden area. It is set in a very quiet hamlet surrounded by quiet lanes which we loved for cycling. The Lovely owners are on hand if you need any help or advice. It is in an ideal location if you wish to drive to the nearby coastal resorts and beaches. We booked again for next year - as far as my wife is concerned this is her second home!!
Thank you so much for your kind review, we are really pleased you enjoy holidaying here. Chris and I are looking forward to welcoming you back next year.
Chris, Dawn and family were warm and friendly on our arrival. We were a little lost and very tired after a long drive, they’re helpful guidance by phone to reach them was a relief. The gite contains everything you would want or need for your stay, scruplesly clean and well equipped. The garden and pool are private and peaceful. It is a rural setting, transport is essential and forward planning of the area would be recommended to make the most of your trip. It is a distance to supermarkets and restaurants are thin on the ground as are bars and cafes but for a week of planned relaxation it is perfect. So load up at the market and settle in. Chris and Dawn are on hand to help and advise, making La Maison du Puits an ideal retreat to rest and recharge.
Thank you, we are delighted you enjoyed your holiday with us. Our local town of Fontenay-le-Comte is just 10 minutes away full of restaurants, cafes, bars and supermarkets and in the adjacent village of Velluire, we have restaurant/bar, local shop and Post Office.
We enjoyed a fabulous week's stay here: two adults, a 5 and 3 year old. The gite is easily accessible from the Autoroute, and is close to beautiful villages. In about 10 mins' drive you reach Fontenay Le Comte which has plenty of shops and two supermarkets (the immediate area comprises a number of sleepy villages without much in the way of restaurants/shops which suited us with a car and small children who needed to be in bed!).
The gite provides off-street parking, 3 bedrooms and a spacious living area. The kitchen has everything you might require supplied, plenty of tea towels and towels for our use, and decent appliances. The wifi was generally reliable. The swimming pool was well-maintained and a lovely size for actual swimming as well as children's pootling.
Chris and Dawn are also so generous to give over so much of the outdoor space to holiday makers so you have lots of options for enjoying the gite. There's also a small courtyard with picnic bench immediately outside the gite which was super helpful. It's lovely and quiet in the village, and the beds are very comfortable.
There's so much to see locally: ruined abbeys, flour mills, and the beautiful Marais Poitevin to explore by boat and easy reach to the coast. We didn't get quite as much done in a week as I'd planned but still had a great time.
Chris and Dawn were really responsive and helpful throughout the booking process, and run the holiday let very efficiently.
We had a fantastic couple of weeks at la maison du puits. The hosts, dawn and Chris are welcoming and friendly, and will bend over backwards to help with any requests that you may have. The gite is incredibly well stocked, they have thought of everything and it really is home from home and immaculately clean.
The weather was fantastic so we were able to make full advantage of the pool, which had been recently refined and had a real luxurious feel to it.
There’s lots to do in the local area, and dawn and Chris are a minefield of information of where are the best places to visit. We tried out the local auberge restaurant and this comes highly recommended.
We’re a large family with preteens and teenagers, and everyone had a fantastic time.
Fully recommended and we’ll definitely be back.
