La Salle des Fetes
This five-bedroom gîte occupies half of a traditional 19th century grange farmhouse. It is exceptionally spacious and has been extensively modernised and renovated throughout. It has its own large, private west facing terrace which offers views of the Vendéen countryside and in the evenings, spectacular sunsets; a perfect place to sit and relax with a glass of wine, read a book or sit and enjoy eating in the ‘plein air’!
La Salle des Fétes shares the large (10m x 5m) swimming-pool (which is security fenced) and associated play and park areas but has its own private access to the pool directly from the terrace.
Next to the living/dining area is the large brand new fully fitted kitchen. This has all the space and equipment for modern day living; including a large double sink and drainer, four burner hob, fan oven, microwave, large fridge, dishwasher, extensive work surfaces, ample storage and all the pots, pans and utensils needed for your self-catering holiday plus a large dining table and chairs.
Indoors it has a huge open plan dining/living area with exposed Charentaise stone walls, French oak beams and tiled floors throughout. This has a large dining table, two large, comfortable sofas. Adjacent to this is a second, equally large but more relaxed space with comfortable settees and a large screen TV with DVD player. (This is not hooked up to UK/French TV by may offer wifi based options). It has a supply of books and games for when you just need to unwind; there is ample comfortable seating for all.
From the two lounge areas you have access to ground and first floor bedrooms – all of which feature exposed beams, pillars and stonework, storage and hanger space, bedside cabinets, reading lamps and a fan. The slightly more privately located triple bedroom 1 (ground floor) is generously sized with space for three single beds. Bedroom 2 (ground floor) is an attractive twin room designed around a central pillar. All three upstairs (double/twin) bedrooms have their own separate individually designed open tread pine staircase and access. Bedroom 3 faces west overlooking the terrace and offers lovely views of the local countryside. Bedrooms 4 and 5 are individually shaped with their own features and vellux windows.
The bedrooms sleep 11 and the two large sofa beds in the main living area mean that up to 15 people can be accommodated at any one time.
To the rear of the kitchen is the generous, completely modernised, bathroom with double hand-basins, standard and a super-sized wet-rooms both with jet and rain water effect showers plus two private toilets.
Extra warmth for the cooler months is provided by electric wall heaters throughout the main ground floor living areas. In line with our eco-friendly approach, hot water is supplied by solar powered and electric boilers and is, thus, plentiful at all times.
The area is fantastic for things to to. In addition to the blue flag beach which is ideal for swimming, surfing and kite-surfing, there is an excellent golf course, Port Bourgenay, the Seven Ocean Aquarium, the great new water and adventure parks at Moutiers-lesMauxfaits, a racecourse, and the chateaux at Talmont St Hilaire. Just down the road is Les Sables d'Olonne and Puy de Fou is just an hour away.
La Salle des Fetes has a very large, private, west facing terrace with outdoor tables, chairs and sunshades. Its own private entrance to the pool area is from the north of the terrace.
There is ample park and play space on our 8 acre site. It should be noted that, within the grounds there are two small 'lacs' one of which is stocked with fish.
The gite and associated pool, park and rectreational areas are all traffic free but there is ample secure, onsite guest parking
This gite and Le Village du Bois per se is suitable for combinations of families and for people of all ages.
The 10m x 5m pool has a large surround and a large number of pool loungers. Adjacent to it is a seating area with tables and sunshades so that, if they prefer not to swim, adults can relax with a drink while keeping an eye on their children.
A range of (mainly adult and older child sized) bikes of different styles and sizes is kept for free guest use.
A stock of films, books and games is also available for guest use.
John Eady, the owner, combines family and business interests in Manchester with running his gite complex.
