L'Ecurie Holiday Home is set in the quiet village of Lairoux and shares a large garden, games room and heated pool with our other 3 bedroom Holiday Home - Le Vieux Café. The house is set on one level and has a lounge with wood burner for the cooler winter months, a separate dining area, a newly fitted kitchen, shower room and two large bedrooms.
The master bedroom has fantastic views across the garden and into the wetland valley below. We even provide a telescope so that you can watch the wildlife from the comfort of your own room.
Outside is a private terrace with patio table and pergola and is a great place to unwind and watch the sun go down with a glass of local wine.
L'Ecurie is only a 15 minute drive to the coast - where you will find miles of sandy beaches and walks through the pine forests. The area is good for walkers and cyclists, and there are over 500km of signposted routes nearby.
The fitted kitchen was newly installed at the beginning of 2015 and has an electric built-in oven, gas hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster.
The separate dining area has a large table that comfortably seats 6 guests.
The lounge has a new leather three-seater sofa and armchair, along with a 32inch flat-screen tv (with UK and French Free-to-air channels), dvd player, wood burner for the winter months and a laptop.
There is Wi-Fi available throughout the house and gardens.
There are two large bedrooms at L'Ecurie. The master bedroom (35m²) has a king sized bed, single bed and cot, along with access onto the private terrace and a lovely view over the gardens. The second bedroom is at the opposite end of the house and has two single beds.
There is plenty of storage in both rooms - with wardrobes, sets of drawers and side tables.
L'Ecurie has one shower room with double shower cubicle, sink with storage cupboard, heated towel rail and wc.
All towels are provided (tea, hand and bath) but please bring your own pool/beach towels.
There is a wood burner in the lounge - along with a supply of wood and kindling materials, plus there are electric radiators in each room. The price of heating the house in the winter months is included in the rental.
There is lots to do at L'Ecurie! The house and grounds are set up to be very family friendly and there is a boules court, huge games room and heated pool, plus 1500m² garden.
The games room has an Xbox 360, table tennis, pool table, games, books, extensive dvd library, dressing up clothes, lego, duplo and drawing materials, along with buckets & spades for the beach.
The 12m x 7m heated pool is open from May until the end of September each year and is securely fenced off for the safety of your children.
The large grassy garden is a great place to see butterflies, birds - and at certain times of the year - tawny owls. There is a picnic table, swing set and lots of space to run around.
L'Ecurie has its own private sun terrace with covered pergola, dining table and chairs and charcoal bbq. There are great views from the terrace over the wetland valley below.
The large gardens are home to several fruit trees, and depending upon the time of year, you can pick cherries, apples, pears, walnuts, plums, mirabelles and lots of other small fruit and vegetables in the vegetable garden.
A great space for picnics and hide and seek!
There is off-road parking for up to 4 cars.
This house is very suitable for families - there is a cot, high chair, booster seat, and lots of plastic cutlery & crockery for young children.
It may also be suitable for guests with limited mobility as the house is set on one level. (There are a few steps down to the master bedroom, but the twin bedroom is on the same floor as the shower and wc)
The house is not suitable for wheelchairs.
We offer a babysitting service, along with a 'taxi' service to local restaurants.
Hello, we are Jason and Annette and we live in The Vendee, next door to our Holiday Homes, so are always available to offer advice and the odd glass of local wine or two!!
|Year property purchased||2006|
|Why this location?||Until 2006 we were living in Jersey, but we needed a new challenge and direction, so we decided to up-sticks and move to France. We found the perfect property for living in and with a bit of work, the attached house and gite could be converted into good quality holiday accommodation.
We had visited the nearby areas on holidays, but preferred the Vendee as it has so much to offer - beaches, country walks, pretty villages, lots of good markets and it is now a recognised wine region!
|Unique benefits of property||The area is so peaceful, yet is within a 45 minute drive of La Rochelle or Les Sables d'Olonne. There are 2 airports within an hour, and the ferry ports are from only 3.5 hours away - ideal for holidaymakers!
The holiday homes are set in a small village only 15 minutes away from the beach at La Faute sur Mer, so we have the best of both worlds - lovely country views and sandy beaches!
This is the 'Venise Verte' network of canals and ruined abbeys located in the south of the Vendee and into the neighbouring department. You can have a relaxing day exploring the canals - either on foot, by bike or being punted along the canals -passing by abbeys and seeing lots of local wildlife. Lots of pretty villages dotted along the canals where you can have lunch and wander along the tow paths.
Opening at the end of June 2016, this looks set to be a big hit with holiday makers. There is a large area with water slides, several rivers to glide down, a beach area to relax in - with wave machines and a children's play area with small slides and amusements.
Not to be missed when visiting The Vendee!! This is a theme park like no other - you will be transported back in time to the age of the Gladiators, Vikings, Musketeers, Medieval Knights and will have the time of your life! There is also a fantastic Bird of Prey show - with hundreds of birds swooping all around. In the evening, there is a Grande Finale - either a musical set on a lake, or the spectacular Cinescenie, with over 1200 participants, a firworks display and lots more!!
