We are Mick and Jan, and we purchased our homes in France in 2005. We live in the barn next door, and we are currently finishing a renovation project to make that our home.
|Year property purchased||2005|
|Why this location?||We have always enjoyed a good renovation project and this property offered the opportunity to bring back to life two old farmhouses and a barn. We spent several years completing the projects and can now relax a little bit and enjoy the lovely scenery and gardens. The village has a good restaurant and the beach is only 50 minutes away! There's always something interesting going on nearby and the country walks are great.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our two holiday homes can be rented together for large family gatherings - catering for up to 14 guests, plus 2 babies. The setting is very peaceful and the well maintained gardens provide an oasis of tranquillity! We are on hand to offer advice and support during your holiday and often invite guests to sample our home made fruit liqueurs.|
The coastal town of La Rochelle is well worth a visit - with lots to do for all of the family. There is a fantastic aquarium with a large shark tank and rain forest area, an old port with restaurants spilling out onto the pavements, lots of boutique shops set in arcaded streets and a large market hall selling locally caught seafood and locally grown fruit and vegetables. Over the bridge to the Ile de Ré - and you escape from the hustle and bustle of big city life - with quaint harbour-side villages and windswept beaches, plus great seafood restaurants and donkeys in pyjamas!
The area known as the 'Venise Verte' forms part of the Marais Poitevin Regional Park - here you can spend a lazy day punting around the vast network of canals - spotting the local wildlife and drifting past ruined abbeys and pretty villages. Lots of canal-side restaurants and historical buildings to see.
The Puy du Fou Theme Park is an experience not to be missed! This park has won several Global Awards over the past couple of years and they are constantly adding new features. You can watch the Vikings, Gladiators, Musketeers and Medieval Knights, plus there is the best Bird of Prey Show that you are ever likely to view - with over a 100 birds flying around you and landing next to you! Also not to be missed, is the Spectacular Evening show - with over 1200 participants and an impressive fireworks display at the end!
