About this property

Characterful Charming Gite in Vendée, Sleeps 4. This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

'La Jolie Maison' is a 2 bedroom 2 floor gite sleeping up to 4. It is attached to the main 'Maison de Maitre' style property, in the centre of a small but fairly lively village, but not far from various touristic towns and attractions. i.e La Rochelle, Ile De Ré, Fontenay Le Comte, Puy Du Fou, Marais poitevin, to name just a few.

We are open all year round. (heated through the winter).

The gite offers you 2 charming bedrooms, (both with en suites) both on the first floor, 1 room has a 140 size double bed and the other room has 2 single beds (90's)

On the ground floor of the gite you have a private entrance, leading to the stairs/seating area to the bedrooms (both with shower/toilets) then on the right you have a kitchen/diner and next to that is a lounge with satellite tv (freeview).

Outside you have a private covered terrace and courtyard, which then leads down to the Garden.

There is also another gite on site that sleeps up to 4 and is wheelchair friendly, so perfect if you want to holiday together 'en Famille' (up to 8 persons in the 2 gites altogether).

We offer private parking in our courtyard. Our large and rustic garden with above ground pool is open to all, with plenty of places to sit quietly and enjoy the sun or shade with a good book and/or a good bottle of wine!. Also on site is a table tennis table, table football.

We live on site too, so are on hand to answer any questions or help with any problems when needed. After living here for 14 years now, we have a good extensive knowledge of the area and can direct you to many places of interest and beauty.

We are situated close to the medieval town of Fontenay le Comte, in a very popular tourist area of the Vendée, benefiting from a warm, sunny microclimate, driven by the Gulf Stream. It's only 45 minutes drive to the Atlantic Coast. The famous re-enactment park, The Puy du Fou, is only a short drive away, ONLY JUST UNDER AN HOUR AWAY

There is free wi-fi at La Jolie Maison and all towels and bed linen are included in the price.

Kitchen and dining

The charming kitchen/dining area is equipped with cooker, washing machine and dishwasher, plus all the smaller appliances.

The dining table is in the kitchen, but summer time the large terrace outside is a most delightful place to enjoy your meals.

Should you wish to have a night off from cooking, we can offer evening meals on occasional nights, please check if available when booking.

Plus we also offer a 'Breakfast Panier' at reasonable rates should you require one. Please order in advance.

The comfy lounge has 2 sofas, satellite tv (freeview only) dvd player.
Books and brochures/maps on the local area.

Bedrooms

The 2 tastefully decorated, relaxing bedrooms are up the beautifully turned wooden stairs. Both have en suite shower rooms.

One bedroom has a double bed (140)
The other bedroom has 2 twin beds (90)

Both rooms are supplied with stand fans.

Bathrooms

Two en suites, 1 in each bedroom. They have toilet, large shower (120 x 80) and sink.

Heating

Fuel supplied radiators.

Garden and outside

There is a large covered terrace outside the main door, equipped with charcoal bbq.

Then there is a short walk down past the barn, to the extensive garden, walled all the way around, with lots of private corners to sit and enjoy a glass or 2, or read your latest novel and relax.

The above ground pool, 6 x 4m, is at the bottom of the garden (shared with other gite on site).
Also for your comfort, we supply sunbeds and umbrellas.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Lin Barrow

We followed our dream in 2004 and bought a house in France. We then proceeded to adapt the house to be a 4 bed B&B and create a new accessible self-catering gite. Now after 14 years of running the B&B, we have decided to cool down a bit and have changed half of the house in to another self-catering gite sleeping up to 4. It now gives us more time to pursue of passions of gardening, music and art and also to explore the beautiful region in the sunshine!<br/>

Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? We chose this area because it has so much to offer. In each directions the landscape changes. We are close to many attractions, beaches are less then an hour away. Plus the beautiful and historic La Rochelle is only 35 minutes away. Not forgetting the wonderful attraction of the Grand Park of Puy Du Fou.

We are also only 3 hours from St Malo port and have 3 airports surrounding us (La Rochelle being the nearest).
Unique benefits of property Our property is in the centre of a charming little village with a shop, cafe/bar and bakers all within walking distance.
The 2 bedrooms both have en suite shower rooms, so if you are coming as 2 couples there is no sharing bathrooms.
There is a lovely sunny terrace to enjoy your glass of 'vin' and devour the wonderful seafood that is so delicious here.
With our other gite, Le Carabi, being on the same site, it is possible for 2 families or friends to holiday together, yet still have your own privacy with separate lodgings (will accommodate up to 8 people, 4 in each).
