Le Petit Michelais is a modern 2 bedroom holiday home with a private heated pool. It is set in the pretty town of St Michel en l'Herm and is within walking distance of local bakeries and other shops.
An ideal location for families who want to be near to the beaches, but in a country location. There are lots of quiet country lanes to explore on foot or by bike, and the wild life is amazing - on the edge of a natural wetlands area and with miles of canals - you'll see lots of heron, storks, cranes, coypus and lots of other migratory birds.
Open all year - child friendly - free wi-fi - 20 minutes to the beach.
The fully equipped kitchen is at the rear of the house and has an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee-maker.
The washing machine and cleaning products are found at in the utility room at the back of the house.
A dining table and 4 chairs is next to the kitchen.
The bright living room has a sofa and two armchairs and views over the front garden. There is a tv with UK free-to-air tv channels, a PS2 player and games and a wi-fi internet connection.
There are 2 comfortable bedrooms here at Le Petit Michelais. One has a double bed and the other has 2 single beds and a cot. There is plenty of storage space and the twin bedroom has patio doors out to the terrace.
Bed linens are provided, but please bring your own cot bedding.
The bathroom has a tiled walk-in shower with a sink and wc. This is located to the rear of the house.
Towels and tea towels are provided, but please bring your own pool/beach towels.
There are radiators for the cooler months and shutters to all of the windows to keep the sun out if required.
The main feature of the house is the private swimming pool! However, if you are indoors, then there is a tv with UK free-to-air satellite channels, a PS2 with a few games and a wi-fi internet connection. There are also some books and a few games.
The front garden is laid mainly to lawns bushes and has an open driveway out onto the road.
To the rear of the house is an enclosed garden with a 6m x 4m heated swimming pool. There is a patio terrace with dining table and chairs and a further table close to the rear of the house. The patio terrace is great for sunbathing and is securely walled/fenced off for the safety of your children.
A stone bbq is available in the front garden.
There is off-road parking for 2 cars in the front drive of Le Petit Michelais
This house is suitable for families and is child friendly - with a cot & highchair. There is a pull-over cover for the swimming pool.
The house is not suitable for wheelchair users as there are steps up to the front door and back patio, but may be suitable for guests with limited mobility as all of the interior rooms are on one level.
Pets are not accepted.
The pool is open and heated from May until the end of September each year.
There is no smoking in the house, but you may smoke on the patio outside.
Edel & Justin live in Limerick in Ireland and bought Le Petit Michelais as a holiday home for themselves. They have been renting it out since 2015 and use Annette Khan to handle the reservations as she lives nearby.

|Why this location?||Edel & Justin chose St Michel en l'Herm as it is a bustling little town with lots of activities throughout the year - theatre productions, car boot sales/vide greniers, weekly markets and musical evenings at the ruined chateau. The house is also only a 20 minute drive to the beaches of La Faute-sur-Mer and La Tranche-sur-Mer.|
|Unique benefits of property||Le Petit Michelais is set on the edge of the town of St Michel and is within easy walking distance of the countryside - with its miles of canal paths and interesting wildlife. You can also walk to the centre of this pretty town to fetch croissants and bread from the local bakery.
The house is great for families - having its own private heated pool and garden terrace.
For a day trip out head down to La Rochelle (only 30 minutes away) - you will find a bustling old port area surrounded by restaurants and fancy yachts - a great place for sitting in a harbour side café and watching the world go by or tasting some of the locally caught seafood. There is a huge aquarium, maritime museum, WW2 underground bunkers, a bustling market and amazing architecture along the streets of boutiques. In the evening the harbour area comes alive in summer - with street entertainers and musicians.
Close to La Rochelle is the pretty Ile de Ré - a drive over the long toll bridge gets you to a holiday paradise - with windswept beaches, quaint harbours and winding cobbked streets in the main villages.
Le Petit Michelais is less than 30 minutes drive to miles of amazing sandy beaches. Drive towards l'Aiguillon-sur-Mer and you will find the Atlantic Wake Park - with its teleski and water inflatables activities. Five minutes further up the coast and you reach La Faute-sur-Mer - a very long, gently sloping beach with sand dunes. La Tranche-sur-Mer is another 5 minutes drive and here you will find a bustling seaside town, water sports centre and 2 main beaches. Best place for ice cream! You will be spoilt for choice with all of the different beaches on offer!
This is a 'must see' attraction for the Vendee! An amazing theme park where you will be transported back in time to the age of the gladiators, vikings, medieval knights, napoleonic sailors and musketeers. There is also a fantastic bird of prey show and spectacular evening finale set around a lake and with over 1200 actors.
