The Owner Recommends

The Vineyards of the Vendée

The local wines have recently been awarded the AOC status. There are several small and medium sized producers within a 20 minute drive where you can go wine tasting and even take a wander around the production areas! The Fief Vendéen wines are from Mareuil sur Lay, Brem, Pissotte, Vix and Chantonnay - Villa Macha sits in the middle of this area.

The Puy du Fou Theme Park

A must see on a visit to the Vendée is the amazing Grand Park du Puy du Fou. It is not like any other theme park that you will have visited - there are not rides, instead there are fantastic historical re-enactments - with Gladiators, Vikings, Medieval Knights, Musketeers, Napoleonic sailors and the best Bird of Prey show that you will ever see! There is also a choice of evening show - with spectacular fireworks finale. You could easily spend two days here, and still want to come back for more!

The beaches of the Southern Vendée

The vendee is famous for its miles of sandy beaches - stretching from L'Aiguillon sur Mer in the south to the Ile Noirmoutier in the north. There are great beaches for surfing, body boarding, making sand castles or just relaxing. Most have lifeguards on duty in the summer months, and several have entertainment laid on - with concerts, fireworks and sporting events.
