My husband and I took early retirement to escape the stress and frustration of living in the South of England. The calm and relaxing lifestyle here in the Vendee was a complete change from what we were used to. Our rural setting provides tranquillity when we need it but within easy reach are lively towns and beautiful beaches. We live on-site in a 200 year old converted barn and are available for assistance or advice should you need it.

|Why this location?||La Petite Guyonnière offers charm and tranquillity in a rural setting but with fast and easy access to the surrounding area.|
|Unique benefits of property||Within easy reach are stunning beaches, historic towns and villages, numerous tourist attractions, including the award winning theme park, Le Puy du Fou, sport and leisure activities and much, much more.
This area is ideal for cycling, there are miles and miles of well signed, designated cycle tracks to chose from.
Just a few hours drive from the channel ports, La Petite Guyonnière is an ideal base from which to discover all that the Vendée has to offer.
Puy du Fou is a historical theme park in Les Epesses in the heart of the Vendée, approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes drive from La Petite Guyonnière. This is not a theme park in the traditional sense of the term but a "historical" attraction that brings in more tourists each year than Disneyland Paris. Puy du Fou is an exciting and magical tourist attraction beyond compare; one day is just not enough to see all of the spectacular live shows. An absolute must see; go to the web site to find out more www.puydufou.com/en.
The beach at St Gilles features kms of wide sandy beaches with plenty of open space for the kids to play, good restaurants and bars, water sports activities and free parking close-by.
This excellent market takes place in the centre of Challans every Tuesday morning. There are numerous stalls and a large food hall, the place to go if you want to watch the French at their best.
Great for just walking through the woods, there is also a play park for kids, a lake with lots of wild birds and pens with deer, goats, ponies and llamas.
Apremont is a pretty village with a Chateau, restaurants and bars and a superb lake. The lake features water slides, a man-made beach with a pirate ship (for the kids) and the ability to rent canoes, pedaloes etc. There is also a water-ski tow-line.
La Gare at Commequieres is a typically French family run restaurant. Excellent food, great value for money and staff who really go out of their way to please. English spoken.
Le Centre at Apremont is a family run restaurant that serves great food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. English spoken.
We have just left our beautiful holiday destination that is La Petite Guyonniere!! This was our first visit (out of hopefully many more to follow). What do I comment on first? There were so many things that made our stay special. Our hosts Chris and Diane
were so welcoming and helpful and truly added to the enjoyment of our stay. The gite itself is lovely and although being advertised as not being wheelchair friendly, with a little help from my husband up the steps to the bathroom (admittedly I can de wheel to allow my chair to fit through smaller door widths) we still found the gite suitable. No dewheeling needed for the step into bedroom. Lovely large kitchen with a low surface worktop for me (🙄so i couldn't get out of the cooking!) Two steps up to the outside eating area. So once my husband got me there it was best I made the most of it and stay till the end of the bottle of rose!😂👍our 14 year old daughter especially loved the inflatable rings at the pool for topping up her tan and our 9 year old son loved the horse (#completely out of apples!) the greenhouse, the medieval outdoor games, the swings, boules and table tennis👍Chris and Diane gave us lots of info on where to go and what we could do, which really helped as we only had a weeks' stay and it meant we could fit so much more into our supposed (just relaxing by the pool) holiday!👌👍rather than wasting days (as with previous holidays) trying to familiarise ourselves with the area. Thank you 😘😘
We spent a week with friends at the gite. We would go there again. The owners, Diane and Chris were excellent hosts, and we have rated our stay very highly as you can see from the score. Book with confidence.
It was a pleasure to welcome you all at La Petite Guyonnière. Hope to see you all again soon
