We purchased the cottage in 2002, had it completely renovated and have been letting the property as a holiday home for the past 14 years. We are semi-retired and have four grandchildren. We spend our time between France and the UK.

|Why this location?||When our children were young we often came to the Vendée for family holidays, we fell in love with the area then, so when we decided the time was right to buy a holiday home we chose the southern Vendée.|
|Unique benefits of property||Quiet rural location, but within easy reach of major tourist attractions and the beautiful golden beaches.|
Market at Fontenay le Comte very large indoor and outdoor market with a nice bar with outside seating, fantastic ambience and people watching.
William Christie gardens only 3kms away, well worth a visit.
Fish restaurants at L'aiguillon, we recommend the Patio.
Beaches at La Faute sur Mer, 5kms of fantastic beach, accessed by walking through a pine wood. Watch the mussels being harvested just off the beach. Gently sloping beach for families with young children.
Puy du Fou, voted one of the best attractions in France. Fantastic day out for the whole family, the bird display is a must.
O'Gliss water park, another fun day out for all the family. There is a pirate ship with slides for the younger members of the family and dare devil water slides for the more adventurous among us. Rated one of the top three water parks in the whole of France.
Roche sur Yon, capital of the Vendée. Head for the 'place Napoleon' and the mechanical animals, pull levers and push buttons to make them move. Enjoyable for all the family, with cafes and restaurants round about to relax the time away.
La Rochelle and the ile de Re, the old harbour area is great for seafood restaurants and people watching. You can get a boat from here to see Fort Boyard. Ile de Re is reached by a toll bridge and once over you are on a beautiful tranquil island, lots of cycle tracks to get away from it all. Lovely seafood restaurants all over the island.
