La Maison Bleue Holiday Cottage is set in a quiet hamlet in the Vendée countryside. It has been lovingly decorated by the owners in a shabby-chic style and has many quirky and unique features, plus lots of character - dating back at least 200 years and with exposed oak beams and stone walls.
This three bedroom cottage is the perfect place for family holidays - a chance to relax in the countryside and unwind in the sun next to the heated pool.
Ideally located for some amazing daytrips - such as the Puy du Fou Theme Park, Marais Poitevin Regional Park, O'Gliss Water Park and the miles of sandy beaches - all within an hour of the cottage.
The cottage has plenty of space - with a cosy lounge, romantic four-poster bed and al fresco dining area. Suitable for a maximum of 4 adults, 2 children and 1 baby - plus up to 2 dogs.
The kitchen diner of La Maison Bleue Holiday Cottage has everything that you would need for a comfortable holiday - with dishwasher, gas oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee-maker. There is a dining tabe and chairs for up to 6 guests, plus a highchair for young children.
The layout is open plan and the decor is shabby-chic. For the cooler evenings there is a woodburner.
A washing machine is available in a utility room along the side of the cottage.
The cosy living room leads off from the kitchen and here you will find 2 long banks of 'sofas' set around the walls - with lots of cushions and plenty of space to lounge around and have a snooze out of the afternoon sun. There are also a couple of armchairs and a tv with UK free-to-air tv channels.
Wi-fi is available in the house.
All 3 bedrooms are on the first floor, up a quirky staircase decorated in a very French style!
The first bedroom that you reach has 2 single beds and would be suitable for children. (There is a low beam through the centre of the room, so may not work for adults/older chidren).
The second bedroom has a king sized four poster bed - very romantic!
The third bedroom has 2 single beds.
All rooms have either wardrobes or storage for clothes.
A travelcot is available for younger children.
Bed linens are provided, but please bring cot linens when needed.
The shower room is on the first floor and has a unique washstand, with hand decorated mirror, shower cubilcle and wc. Towels are provided.
La Maison Bleue is only open from May until the end of September and as it has lovely thick stone walls, heating is not always required.
There is a logburner in the kitchen and this sends heat out around the cottage.
There is a selection of boardgames and books for children inside the cottage, plus an outdoor play area wih swings and small climbing frame with a slide.
The tv has free-to-air UK tv channels, so your kids will not miss their favourite programs on CBBies etc..
The garden leads off from the side of the cottage - with a covered pergola for outside dining - a charcoal bbq is available for your use. From here you reach the sheltered play area and gravelled area with sunloungers.
A short walk along a grassy path leads you to the main attraction of the garden - the heated swimming pool, with sunloungers scattered around a decked area. The pool is totally enclosed - making it secure for your younger children and there is even a bar area with a fridge - for keeping cold drinks in.
Beyond the pool area is a grassy garden/field where you can play ball games or play with your dog - off-lead.
Please note that the pool is shared with the property owners who live in the cottage next door to La Maison Bleue. They usually only use the pool when guests are out, but may, from time to time use it when guests are present.
The cottage is tucked away in a small hamlet and has off-road parking for 2 cars.
This cottage is suitable for families with children - with a highchair, travelcot, toys and swings available for your use. This cottage would not be suitable for guests with limited mobility as all of the bedrooms and shower room are on the first floor. Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome.
The cottage is non-smoking.
Tracy, Tony and their 2 sons live in the attached cottage and are usually around to offer advice and support during your stay.
Tracy & Tony are the owners of La Maison Bleue and they live in the attached cottage next door. They have two sons who have grown up in France and Tracy runs a mobile business as a Nail Artist and Tony has a building company. They have been living in the Vendée since 2002 and have asked Annette Khan to manage their holiday rental reservations.

|Why this location?||Tracy and Tony love living in the French countryside, but didn't want to be really isolated - so chose this little hamlet as it had a few neighbours and was only a short drive to the nearest town with a bakery and shop! The area is perfect for day trips down to the coast, or the Puy du Fou, and La Rochelle & the Ile de Ré are both less than 90 minutes away.|

If you want to take a day trip away from the house, there are plently of amazing things to do - all less than 90 minutes away. (Puy du Fou, beaches, forests, lakes, O'Gliss Water Park, plus many more).
At only 45 minutes away, you will find the most amazing day trip that you will ever see! The Award-winning Puy du Fou theme park is a 'must see' for the Vendée! Spectucular shows - with Vikings, Gladiators, Medieval Knights, Napoleonic sailors, Musketeers, plus the 'Bal des Oiseaux Fantômes' (bird of prey show) - and then there are 2 fantastic evening shows set around a lake and with a fireworks finalé.
Located near to Moutiers les Mauxfaits (45 mins), these two adventure parks are great for keeping the children amused. The O'Gliss has water slides, lazy river, beach with waves, rapids simulator ride, plus a dedicated area for younger children.
The Indian Adventure Park has zip wires and climbing courses in a forest setting, plus karting, water slide jumps, sumo wrestling, pony rides, paintballing and lots more.
For a relaxing day of site-seeing and waterways, visit the Marais Poitevin Regional Park. Set in the southern Vendée, this area of natural wetlands is criss-crossed by canals and dotted with pretty villages. You can punt along the canals, sit in a river-side restaurant or explore the ruined abbeys. A very peaceful way to spend a day!
The area is famous for its lovely long sandy 'Blue Flag' beaches that stretch for miles. The whole coastline is peppered with small seaside towns - with lots of restaurants, ice cream parlours, cafés, street entertainment and weekly markets. All of the beaches have carparks nearby, many have lifeguards on duty in the summer and the waves are perfect for body boarding and surfing.
La Rochelle is only 70 minutes away and is a bustling coastal town with a good summer vibe! There is an old port surrounded by restaurants with outside seating, where you can sit and watch the world go by - whilst eating freshly caught seafood! The colonnaded streets of boutique shops are worth a visit, as is the Aquarium and there is always entertainment in the summer evenings.
The Ile de Ré is only 15 mintes from La Rochelle, and once you cross the bridge you really feel like you are on holiday! Windswept beaches, pretty harbour-side towns with cobbled streets leading to quaint markets and lots of historic buildings to visit.
