We are Suzanne & Dave and we have lived in the Vendée for several years now. Our children have grown up here - enjoying the outdoor lifestyle and warm weather of the area. Now that they have grown up - and nearly flown the nest, we have decided to let others enjoy our 'beach house' and so have asked Annette to manage the rentals for the house. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we have!

|Why this location?||We love to be by the sea - our children enjoy surfing and bodyboarding and the general 'buzz' that La Tranche-sur-Mer has. We also enjoy relaxing under the shade of one of our garden trees - enjoying a glass of wine and listening to the waves crashing in the distance.|
|Unique benefits of property||The house is set in a quiet residential area, but is only a 5 minute walk from the beach and a couple of local restaurants (open all year for Pizzas and local seafood). We love the laid back relaxed atmosphere and enjoy visiting La Tranche-sur-Mer - for the markets, craft fairs, restaurants, entertainment and water sports.|
A bustling seaside town with entertainment laid on throughout the summer months. There are lots of restaurants catering for the whole family - from burgers and kebabs to high quality seafood platters - you will be spoilt for choice. And don't forget to visit the ice cream parlours on the main shopping street - over 50 amazing flavours, and hand made ice lollies too!
Miles of sandy beaches, surfing, body boarding, windsurfing school, fireworks, sand dunes and forest walks - something for everyone!
Two major attractions and only a 20 minute drive from La Tranche-sur-Mer!
The O'Gliss Water Park makes for a great day out - with lazy rivers, lots of water slides, VIP access, play area for young children and foam parties for the teenagers!
The Indian Forest Adventure Park has karting, zip wires, pony rides, paintball, climbing through the trees and water slides - with a difference!
Less than a 90 minute drive away is the fantastic Puy du Fou Theme Park - you can't visit the Vendée, and not spend at least one day here! There is a full programme of shows throughout the day and late into the evening - with Vikings, Gladiators, Musketeers, Napoleonic Sailors, King Arthur and an amazing Bird of Prey show to mention just a few! In the evening, there is a spectacular show, set around a lake - with over 1200 participants and ending with a fireworks display! Not to be missed!
You will be spoilt for choice for beaches! You can walk from Gite Le Coquillage and within 5 minutes you will be on a beach, or you can take the free bus (in the summer) and head off to Les Conches or La Terrière for the big waves - perfect for surfing or body boarding. Further along the coast are Jard and St Vincent - where you will have great fun at low tide - exploring the rock pools and finding crabs and shrimps!
The main beach at La Tranche sur Mer has lots of entertainment, plus surf schools, boat trips to La Rochelle or the Ile de Ré.
Well-designed house in immaculate condition in a quiet, urban setting, close to the pine forest and easy walking distance to the beach. Very well equipped for outdoor living - leisure and dining. Well furnished internally but a bit short of living room seating for six adults. Owners very hospitable. Extensive beach but could not recommend to families with young children wishing to swim - very unfriendly currents!
We spent a week here at the end of July 2019. 2 kids aged 3 and 6, parents and grandparents. The house is really nice, well finished, clean and contains everything you need for a comfortable stay. The garden is private and secure for children to play in without having to stand guard and we barbecued most evenings and ate outside. There is also a small outhouse/playroom for children to play in complete with games consoles and TV.
The washing machine (and dryer) were a very welcome addition meaning we didn't have to pack as many clothes for the children.
The house is within a 5 minute walk of a very nice boulangerie where we walked each morning to collect croissants and pain au chocolat, you will put on pounds but there is a lovely nearby beach to walk along as well as the woodlands a few streets away which the children loved to explore both of which help to work off the pastries.
The whole area is lovely and well set up as a resort, you are encouraged to walk, cycle or catch the free fun bus into town or to the shops and the whole place has a centre parcs feel to it with so many people cycling or walking. Even in the height of summer it didn't feel too crowded and we always found space even on t he busier beach in town.
The owners of the house were friendly and knowledgeable of the local area having lived there for some time and i can see why they do, its an amazing place which we hope to visit again in the future.
