A small selection of the things to do only a short distance from the site:

Plage Du Apremond
The lake and the river are obviously dream places for anglers. To get to the artificial beach of the village, go down the castle and turn left before the bridge, go straight, pass the dam and you will see the beach. It is a peaceful place; it is not the green Venice of the Marais Poitevin, but the Venice of Apremont! A playground and a toboggan have been arranged for the children. You can rest quietly on the sand and swim without any problem. If you feel like it, you can rent a boat or canoe next to the pier. I find it rather good, it is for me an alternative to beaches when the other beaches are full in the summer and if you like or want to try water skiing there is a training centre for you to give it a try.
Apremont is a very attractive Middle Ages village on the banks of the river « La Vie », in a very green and natural landscape, 12 miles from the ocean and from Saint-Gilles Croix de Vie and 8 miles from Aizenay.
Its 16th century castle is open to the public and its beautiful church is worth a visit. Some events also take place in summer in the castle area.
Its 177 ha lake with its beach offers water sports, a bathing area, hiking routes and a nice restaurant welcomes the tourists for meals or just ice creams or drinks.
Following the river, Apremont centre lies at the foot of the castle with its typical small bridge, its medieval streets, and of course shops and a very friendly restaurant "Restaurant du Centre" where you can savour a variety of different meals, indoors or outdoors on a very nice terrasse with a fountain, or just have a snack, all traditionally very French.
At only a short distance from Apremont, you can enjoy in Coex the superb 18 holes golf course and riding, in the park of the Olfacties.
10 miles away from Apremont, Aizenay is a very nice town: its church with its colourful stained glass, characteristic of the early twentieth century is a fine example of neo-gothic architecture. Its forest to the east of the town,
