About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Julie Mason

The love affair with this diverse and beautiful area began in 2000 with a visit to Medieval Mirepoix. We now live permanently in the local area so are very well placed to provide the answers to any queries. Having holidayed over the years in many French holiday rentals, we know just how much the "little details" matter and our aim is to provide the extra touches to make sure you have a good holiday and can relax in a home from home. Happy to help plan the perfect stay.

Why this location? Medieval gem Mirepoix, Carcassonne and the stunning local area just ticked all the boxes. There are plenty of places to visit within easy reach from Cathar castles, swimming lakes, mountains, lively towns to remote mountain walks. Being on the Aude/Ariege border makes it possible to visit the vineyards, the coast, mountains, cities (Toulouse, Carcassonne, Narbonne) even Spain! The local food, wine and markets are excellent and there are plenty of good restaurants, cafes and bars. The weekly market is the best for miles! Getting here is easy with flights to Carcassonne or Toulouse. The motorway and TGV are also easy options with access at Castelnaudary about 30 minutes away. The Canal du Midi and Tour de France routes are very closeby. You can travel in any direction and have a great experience, whatever your taste.
Unique benefits of property Because two of the bedrooms, with sitting area, shower room and wc are on a lower floor with separate access this property is ideal for shared groups or just for those who prefer a little more privacy. There's still plenty of room to all get together to eat, drink and socialise too! There's a large, sunny terrace with bbq and outside dining directly next to the living room and kitchen. Steps lead down to the secluded garden with complete privacy and a very large pool. There are plenty of sunloungers and parasols. The drive is gated, there's off road parking and garage. No through traffic and within an easy walk to the village centre for the bakery, bar, childrens playground and tennis courts. Mirepoix town centre is just 3kms (5 minutes) away with all facilities, shops, restaurants and a bi-weekly market. Also a lovely traffic-free central square where you can relax and children are safe.

We had a fabulous time in this house. Julie and Pete were very welcoming and made sure we knew where everything was. The house was clean and really well laid out - two bedrooms on the upper (main) floor, and two bedrooms on the lower floor, adjacent the pool. Everything we needed was catered for, including hot and powerful showers! The area is peaceful and relaxed.

The figure of 8 pool was fabulous, although it got a little cooler towards the end of September. Loungers and umbrellas provided The weather was great, we still got a nice tan even in late September.

Nearby Mirepoix is also great - lots of places to eat and drink, and lots to do, and only 5 minutes away by car. The supermarket is on the road into town, and its only a 5 minute walk from the house to the nearest Boulangerie!

Plenty to see in the area, if you can drag yourself away from the completely secluded pool.

Thank you Julie and Pete! I'm sure we will be back.

Owner response

Thanks for your great comments and glad we provided what you needed. We try hard to make sure that all the little things that make a house a home are there. We love Mirepoix so much we moved here for good! Thanks again.

Had a great time staying here, 2 couples. House is exactly as described and tucked away in a very nice village. Huge pool! Short drives to lake, beaches, towns etc... Would recommend! Julie was very helpful with things to do and other tips.

We’ve just returned from a week spent in the lovely, well furnished and very well equipped Coin du Soleil. Many happy hours spent enjoying the amazing pool which is completely private and gets sunshine from early morning until late.

Visit the Monday morning market in historic Mirepoix for wonderful selection of fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread etc. A very relaxing holiday in a great location and absolutely recommend to others.

Owner response

Validation of everything we try to offer to our guests. Thank you!

This is such a wonderful property, very will maintained and clean. We stayed here for 2 weeks and wanted for nothing. Everything you could possibly need is provided and the owners are on hand nearby and at the end of the phone to facilitate any requests. The main attraction is the beautiful pool, we spent many hours both in and out of the pool. There are many sun chairs also a table and chairs and it is totally private and gets the sun all day long from early morning.

There is an outside bbq which we used on many evenings situated on a top terrace leading from the main living area with a table and chairs for eating al fresco.

The cul de sac is very quiet and there is a small park, tennis courts and football pitch right by the house.

The house is 5 minutes from Mirepoix and totally central to all attractions and activities in the Ariege region. We easily travelled to Carcassonne, Monsegur, Foix, Camon, Chalabre, Lac de Montbel to name a few places. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas, so many pretty villages and stunnning scenery. It's very easy to navigate with a car, in fact we had a 9 seater on country roads. All the local restaurants were lovely, we especially liked Le grain de sel in Mirepoix.

We were very sorry to leave this villa and would highly recommend it. Maybe one day we will be lucky enough to return.
