|Gite Languedoc||Self Catering||Saturday||2||4||2|
'Languedoc' is one of 4 individual self-catering cottages (gîtes) that we have here, set with our home in 5 acres of the Pyrénéan foothills, bordered by a pretty stream, and benefiting from our 10x5m pool, table tennis, table-football, boule court, free wi-fi etc. Two of the gites have 2 bedrooms, one has 3 bedrooms, and one has 4 bedrooms.
All the gites have superbly equipped kitchens with dishwasher, washing machine, full-sized fridge-freezer, cooker, 4-ring hob, microwave etc. The gites also have English freeview tv, stereo cd and a private terrace or garden with sun beds, stone built barbecue, patio table and chairs and magnificent views of the countryside and/or the Pyrénées.
We have configured the top floor of Languedoc into a twin bedded room with its own shower room, and the downstairs bedroom is set up as a double bedroom with a large 1m shower in the en-suite shower room.
Languedoc overlooks the pool, and has a private terrace and views in three directions.
Through the entrance doors to the left of the terrace, you enter the lounge area with well equipped fitted kitchen (with dishwasher and washing machine).
On the ground floor, one side of the central open plan room has the kitchen area with dining table, to the other side is the lounge area with tv.
The lounge gives access to the downstairs bedroom which also has patio windows opening directly onto the terrace overlooking the pool.
From the rear of the lounge a stairway winds to the upstairs twin room comprising a large bedroom (5mx3m) with triple aspect views (including the Pyrénées).
Both bedrooms have en suite shower rooms.
Languedoc has electric heating and is suitable for use all year round.
Around the cottages are the activities including:
10m by 5m swimming pool
Table tennis in the covered games barn
Table football in the covered games barn
Giant connect 4 in the covered games barn
Giant chess set and board under the cherry tree
Boule / pétanque court on the lawn outside gite 'Bordeaux'
Badminton which can be set up on the pétanque court
Sand pit for smaller children
Short nature walk around the land and along the stream
All guests are welcome to explore the 5 acres down to the pretty stream, where you are likely to meet our 2 horses and 2 donkeys always on the lookout for a spare carrot or chunk of old French stick.
The 4 gites share off-street private parking.
With the ground floor en suite bedroom Languedoc is suitable for guests with some limited mobility, but NOT suitable for wheelchairs - Our gite Loire caters for wheelchair clients.
We are both from Bristol then worked in London and around the world before selling everything in the UK and coming out to France. Our business now is providing luxury accommodation for summer holidays and longer term winter lets - very different to the office, but much more satisfying. Helping us around the property are our four 4-legged lawnmowers: two horses Rajah and Safi, and 2 donkeys Willow and Holly. Since moving here in 2002 we have been involved in the life of our village and local area

|Why this location?||Having holidayed in the south of France as children, we re-discovered the lovely medieval town of Mirepoix when it was featured on an episode of 'A place in the sun' in 2001 and thought 'why not go to France ourselves'? We re-located to France in 2002 and purchased L'Enclos, 10 minutes from Mirepoix. It had been a working farm until the 1970's when the farmhouse and barns started to be converted into gites by the previous french owner, and we have since renovated each of the gites in turn. L'Enclos is our home, owned and run by the two of us - whether that be the preparation of the gites during changeovers or improving the facilities off-season. Each year we enjoy welcoming guests and introducing them to the wonders of this little-known corner of France.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our village nestles in the foothills of the Pyrenees. 400m above sea level, but with the 3000m peaks 20 mins drive away. Every active sport you can think of is on the doorstep, from paragliding to hill walking via watersports. The Tour de France passes close by and the area is a favourite for cyclists & mountain bikers. We are an hour from the Mediterranean beaches, and enjoy a mild climate. For those that prefer a gentler pace, the roads are quiet and the scenery is spectacular - you can tour the mountains from the comfort of the driving seat! We have many driving and walking tours; vineyards to visit; weekly markets; wildlife and wild flowers (esp. the orchids in spring / early summer). For foodies, Mirepoix (at 10mins) has over 20 restaurants to suit all tastes.|
