Les Cerisiers is situated in the beautiful Northern Gers countryside in a hamlet 5 mins from La Romieu with its historic cloisters and cathedral (bakery & 2 excellent restaurants) and 15 mins from the city of Condom (everything).
Pretty spacious farmhouse, comfortably furnished and equipped to a high standard and retaining many original features. Surrounded by its charming garden of 4000sqm, private and peaceful yet within easy reach of many places of interest, medieval bastide villages and lots of markets and vineyards. The D-end pool, 10m x 4m, is at the bottom of the garden, surrounded by shrubs. There is ample garden furniture on the various terraces and around the pool.
The front door opens into the hall off which is the sitting room with French windows to the terrace and the kitchen (fully-equipped inc. fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, food mixer) also with direct access to another terrace for easy al fresco eating! Downstairs there is one bedroom with a king-size bed, a shower-room and a separate loo, also the study with a day-bed with a proper mattress. Also the laundry room with washing machine.
Upstairs is a twin-bedded room plus a bathroom, a single bedroom and a separate loo with a basin. The house sleeps 6. A drop-sided cot (no sheets/ blankets) and a child's high chair are available on request.
Additional facilities - Wi-fi, tv with free-view English channels, cd player, bbq.
The kitchen (fully-equipped inc.fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric oven,microwave, dishwasher, food mixer, coffee machine) has a large dining room table. With ample china/glasses/ cutlery, it is our family holiday house so is better equipped than the average letting house! French windows directly out to patio for easy outside eating!

There is also a wood burner.
The study/bedroom 4 with a day bed is also a peaceful space/ retreat!
Main bedroom - King size bed with lots of cupboard space and overlooking the front garden.
Second bedroom - 2 single beds with dual aspect over the front garden and the side garden.
Third bedroom - 1 single bed with a view over the side garden.
Fourth bedroom/study - 1 day bed with proper mattress with a view over the side garden.
1 walk-in shower, basin & bidet, electric towel rail.
1 bathroom and basin, shower attachment in bath.
2 separate loos, one downstairs, the other upstairs plus a basin.

A resident hare who tolerates our presence but is probably happier when the house is unoccupied!
Lots of space to park on the drive and off the lane.
Suitable for anyone but wheelchairs would be difficult because of steps down into the sitting room off which is the kitchen. Also some outside steps. Tiled staircase fitted with banisters.
Pool has alarm system and is at the bottom of the garden but children must be supervised at all times.
Please no smoking.
We appreciate the glorious Gersois countryside, its colourful markets and bastide towns and villages as well as the pace of life.

|Why this location?||The house is in a hamlet with 4 other properties and a chateau. The surrounding countryside is attractive and grows a variety of crops which makes it interesting throughout the year.|
|Unique benefits of property||Rural location within easy reach of all amenities, lots of sightseeing if required, superb restaurants, vineyards for wine-tasting and buying(!). Condom itself is a special town/city with easy parking, cafes and bars, supermarkets and a spectacular cathedral. La Romieu is a charming village with an epicerie, a World Heritage Site with cloisters and cathedral church, full of history and 2 excellent restaurants!|

Our favourite restaurant is Le Florida, Castera Verduzan where Baptiste will look after you - have dined there for years!
All the markets are such fun- get there by 10.00 as by 12.00 stalls start closing for lunch!
Les Cerisiers was such a lovely place to spend out summer holiday this year.
As described, the house was spacious, clean, tidy and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and a welcome mid-term linen change helped keep them that way. There was plenty of space in the kitchen although we never needed to use the interior dining table as all of our evening meals were taken on the patio under the remote control awning.
The gardens were splendid, with a great pool. There are numerous mature trees, which offered plenty of dappled shade for those of us who could not withstand the direct heat of the sun. The area was almost deserted of traffic and so quiet and peaceful.
There are a couple of restaurants in nearby La Romieu, however, when dining out, we tended to go slightly further afield. The Auberge De Larressingle provided a wonderful meal, but this was topped by our evening at Le Balcon, in the historic part of Condom. The food and service were both exquisite.
All in all, we would highly recommend the house as a perfect place to get away from everything and quietly relax.
Lovely large comfortable house very suitable for an extended family. It is in a nice quiet area, 10 minutes easy drive La Romieu with its useful boulangerie, restaurant and epiciere.
We enjoyed the large garden with fruit trees overlooking farm land and games of boule (provided). Plant pots and shrubs gave the area a pleasant atmosphere. The local "gite and garden manager" was English and ensured any house keeping questions were dealt speedily.
The fenced pool was well kept and had loungers, table, chairs, sunshade and real shade from trees and pool side cabin. Lilos and other pool stuff was there this year and much enjoyed by the children!
The large well equipped kitchen and adjoining sun terrace with retractable canopy made for relaxing meal times for all six of us. The huge fridge freezer was very useful in the hot weather. Shaded BBQ terrace was made use of for cooking.
The only drawback is upstairs with a low very old beam at the entrance to the upstairs toilet. This might be a problem for the less flexible. it did however give the upstairs character. The downstairs walk in shower room was excellent.
Thoroughly recommend for a family holiday.
We had a lovely time staying in this pretty house surrounded by beautiful countryside. We spent our time exploring the local villages and eating in some lovely places. On our last night we went to a stunning concert of choral works in the Collégiale in La Romieu and when we came home we sat in the garden drinking rosé and watching the lunar eclipse which was amazing.
The loungers around the pool and the garden furniture have been upgraded so are nicer than they appear in the photos, and the kitchen is very well equipped. Geraldine was very warm and responsive to any requests, and Keith was very kind too.
This was a lovely looking property. A nice quiet rural location with a fantastic pool. Unfortunately we did encounter a few issues with our stay requiring countless attendance from the electrician with the power blowing and pool tripping. There was only 1 sun lounger by the pool but countless chairs. The upstairs toilet door did not shut properly and you had to duck to get through the door way (not mentioned in description) the main toilet packed up in week 2. This is a new rental property to the owner and they are still working on getting this up to standard so whilst we encountered issues I would hope these would be rectified were possible. I would praise the property management team that is the main contact as they were always on the end of the phone and popped over when we had issues.
1) Extra sun loungers are already there.
2) The upstairs loo door has been rectified. However I cannot change the height of the beam above the door for obvious reasons! This is an old house.
3) A thunder storm caused problems with pool - tripped the switch in the house. Electrician has sorted this so it should not happen again. Pool pump has been renewed.
4) The downstairs loo cistern has been replaced. I have now spent several weeks there with friends without any problem.
5) I bought the house last spring but I had to remain in the UK caring for my husband with cancer- he died at the end of July. I did not have the time to ensure that everything with the new property was faultless - I knew that Keith and Debbie who manage the house for me would do their best in an emergency.
