About this property

Beautiful 3 Bedroom Flat in the Pyrenees . This apartment is in a town setting.

Bagnères-de-Bigorre, a charming spa town in the Pyrénées and long visited by the French and sees few foreign visitors. Perhaps this is why the locals are so friendly!
Our apartment is in the heart of the old town yet is in a beautiful and peaceful location which includes a shared but private courtyard garden overlooked by our balcony. It is on the first and second floors of an old converted hotel and is accessible via a spiral staircase.
The first floor is an open plan living room with a well equipped kitchen. There is a double sofa bed in the living area and a separate utility room contains a washing machine. Stairs lead up from the living room to the 3 bedrooms (one double, two twins), the bathroom and the shower room (each of these has a wc). A cot is available. So we can sleep up to 8 adults (or 9 if 1 is a child in a cot). We have internet access and a phone. The tv gives several English programmes as well as French ones. There is also a radio/cd player.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is well equipped with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, loads of storage space, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. There is also a utility room containing a washing machine.
The whole of the living area, including kitchen and dining area are open plan.

Living rooms

The living area is open plan and there is seating for 9, with a feature electric fire, television and doors opening onto the balcony. It is comfortable and quiet with view of the mountains through the windows. There is also a double sofabed in the living area.

There is one large double bedroom with a huge bed and plenty of storage.

There is a small twin bedroom and a larger twin. Downstairs in the living area there is a double sofabed. We also have a travel cot available should you need one. The bedrooms are charming, a lovely mixture of old beams and modern decor.

There is one large family bathroom with a spacious feel. There is wc, bath with shower and 2 handbasins as well as plenty of storage.

The second bathroom is smaller containing a shower unit, wc and handbasin, as well as shelves for storage.

The whole flat is centrally-heated (gas fired) and there is a feature electric fire in the living area.

The flat is located right in the centre of the town yet is remarkably quiet and peaceful so there is a short walk to all of the local facilities - swimming pool, spa, casino, tennis, mini-golf - as well a wonderful covered marked and plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants. There is access to local walks up the nearby forested hill and of course there are all the mountain activities and sports close by. These include biking, skiing, horse-riding, bird-watching and hiking.

Garden and outside

There is a small balcony that runs the length of the flat and a well-maintained shared courtyard full of shrubs and flowers.

Parking and garages

Free parking is readily available about 3 minutes walk from the apartment. There is also parking a few steps away with a small charge for parking during working hours Monday to Saturday but you can stop for a short while to load and unload your car if needed.

Visitor suitability

Kids are welcome but the place is not really suitable for anyone with severe mobility problems or in a wheelchair.

Why this location? We love the town of Bagneres-de-Bigorre. It's a spa, is ideal for both winter skiing trips and in summer for walking, biking and much more. The covered market is charming - and useful. the locals are friendly. I thoroughly enjoy staying there.
Unique benefits of property Our flat is in the very centre of the town, Yet amazingly calm and peaceful. There is easy access to the mountains and countryside. What's more there is a splendid spa where it's well worth spending 2 hours of indulgence and stress relief

A wonderful couple look after my guests for me. They give everyone who comes to stay a warm welcome

Everything was as described. Key holders were extremely helpful with advise on places of interest to see and restaurants to visit..
The town and it's surrounds are extremely picturesque and we particularly enjoyed the challenging walks within walking distance of the apartment.
Parking is on street but was never an issue.
We have travelled extensively in France but this is our 1st visit to Pyrenees and Bagneres de Bigorre was a delight and we'll worth a Visit.

We had hoped that because it was in a town centre that there would be a good choice of places to eat out in the evenings, but many places were closed when we were there (early May), probably because it was between seasons. However we had wonderful days out among the mountains, streams and waterfalls, both the well-known places and also little places that you find almost by accident.
