“La Fournière” nestles in the fertile Dordogne Valley enjoying stunning views of the surrounding hills and the gentle rushing sound of water over pebbles can be heard from the river meandering just 200 metres away.
Set in its own fully enclosed grounds amidst walnut trees, roses and mature shrubs it invites relaxation yet a 10 minute walk takes you to the small picturesque village of St Sozy boasting a traditional “boulangerie” for your morning croissant and country bread, a village shop, a butcher’s shop and 3 good restaurants and a canoeing base.
Well-equipped kitchen with hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave.
Through the shady terrace in front of the house you enter the spacious oak beamed lounge/diner with ample comfortable seating to enjoy the stone fireplace or satellite tv and stereo system.
Three double bedrooms one of which has 2 single beds
One shower room with toilets and one separate toilet
Central heating and fireplace
The garden offers various seating areas amidst plants and singing birds. A shaded terrace with garden furniture, deck chairs, bbq.
There is an adjacent field ideal for ball games etc…
There are too many sites to visit to name them all from villages with special interests to caves to prehistoric sites to châteaux, wine producers, local markets a plenty. We recommend Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac, Martel, Sarlat, St Cirq Lapopie etc..
We enjoyed our first visit to La Fourniere for two weeks in September this year. The house is in a beautiful quiet setting a short walk from the village of Saint-Sozy with outlook on farmland and an equally short walk to the Dordogne river.
We found the house to be very well equipped and exactly as advertised. Having the private pool gated was great as we were travelling with our 20 month old daughter so she could explore without the risk of falling into the pool. There is also both a large formal garden and a second field that has been left to nature with paths to walk through.
Saint-Sozy itself is a small village but well maintained and equipped with a couple of shops for fresh bread/croissants, a hotel, post office and pizzaria that has both restaurant and take away.
Near to Saint-Sozy are the beautiful towns of Martel and Rocmadour which are both great for day trips out and have a number of tourist attractions nearby.
The property owner, Greg, was on hand with excellent local knowledge and suggestions for day trips.
We would not hesitate in recommending La Fourniere and can imagine we will make a return trip in the future!
Delightful Cottage, lovely setting very close to the village of St Sozy and the Dordogne River. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return and happily recommend to others. The house was immaculately clean on arrival and the pool and outside areas are excellent. Had a great week, thanks Greg!
Excellent villa in superb location. Pool is first class as well as lovely garden with shaded areas and a bonus field for ball games.
I would definitely recommend the area as well a load to do in case of bad weather.
