My husband and I moved to Domaine Labastide near Frayssinet-le-Gelat in France with our little dog, Molly, and our three cats, Tootsie, Leah and Poppy, after many years living in England. We think Domaine Labastide is beautiful, peaceful and charming and we hope you will too. We live here all year round so will be here to welcome you if you decide to come and stay.

|Why this location?||We love the fact that this corner of the Lot department is beautiful and calm but also close to all the attractions of the Dordogne and the Lot-et-Garonne. The Dordogne region can be very busy in the high season but the Lot is always calmer and the pace of life is less hectic. The Lot also has incredible produce and great wine, as well as lots of characterful villages where time has almost stood still. Our gites benefit from the location in a peaceful hamlet but with all modern conveniences and access to a swimming pool and garden with a trampoline and ping-pong table. Even in the heat of the summer, there is always a shady corner to sit and read or a walk in the surrounding forests and hills for those who prefer a bit of exercise. All in all, we think this is a perfect holiday location for anyone.|
|Unique benefits of property||The main benefits of our property are the high standard of accommodation with all the services and conveniences you might need in an idyllic location with access to a swimming pool, gardens and a private terrace with barbeque area. The unspoilt views over the surrounding countryside are amazing, as is the abundant wildlife you will see if you take the time to look around and walk in the woods. We realise that the modern world doesn't stop when you are on holiday so we also provide wireless Internet access throughout the property and satellite television (both French and English) for those who don't want to miss out on their favourite shows. We also provide books, DVDs and board games for guests to borrow and are always on hand to offer advice and guidance on what to see and do, as well as helping with any tricky French language problems or booking visits or restaurants.|
From Labastide you can set off in discovery of numerous villages, towns and sights or leisure parks: History fans will love the magnificent castles of the Dordogne such as Beynac, Castelnaud and Les Milandes. The castle of Bonaguil is an absolute must see! The unmissable town of Sarlat-La-Canéda, capital of the "black diamond" (truffles), foie gras and gastronomy. Medieval villages such as Domme and Monpazier as well as La Roque-Gageac, built into the cliffs above the Dordogne river. Rocamadour, the most beautiful village in France and an important location on the pilgrimage route. The basilica of Saint-Sauveur is also an unmissable part of the Way of St James. Saint-Cirq Lapopie, a listed medieval village, was voted "Best French Village" in 2012. Cahors, the capital of the Lot region with its turreted Pont Valentré bridge, the Saint Étienne Cathedral with its secret gardens or, for wine connoisseurs, you can go on the Cahors vineyard tours. Food lovers will be spoilt for choice with the produce in this beautiful region: foie gras, cepes mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts and the famous lamb, nuts and melon from Quercy. Those who prefer more cultural attractions will love the numerous museums in the region; Musée Zadkine, Quercynoise des Vieilles Mécaniques, SauveTerre Musée de Préhistoire, Musée de Gajac. Or they can visit Les Arques with its roman churches. The valleys of the Lot and the Dordogne, as well as numerous lakes with leisure parks will satisfy those who like to swim, fish or take sightseeing trips on the river. Visiting the caves of Lascaux, Lacave, Cougnac, Peche Merle and Merveilles and the grotto at Padirac will allow you to immerse yourself in the prehistoric period of this region and they are refreshing on summer days when it is too warm. Our region also hosts a number of festivals during the summer to entertain you: “Lot of Saveurs” and Blues at Cahors, the Medieval Festival of Gourdon, Jazz at Souillac, Cinema at Gindou

very likely to return to this facility.
would be happy to others looking for a rural quiet location with usual facilities needed just a 15 minute drive away.
We had a wonderful stay at Domaine LaBastide. The gite we rented has a particular charm, the entire domain is very nice and located in a calm and beautiful countryside. We enjoyed immensely the view.
Everything we needed was provided by our lovely hosts and the children (9 and 11 years old) were spoiled especially with everything they wanted, pool to swim in, bykes, table tennis, football.
Thank you, Carine and Neal!
