A beautifully converted farmhouse set in the stunning countryside of Puy l'Évêque, South West France. This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, family Gite, provides luxury, self-catering accommodation and has a brand new 10 x 5m private, infinity style swimming pool for Summer 2016, with decked terrace and stunning views over our fields and the valley.
Gite la Fleurieu is set in a wonderful, peaceful location, surrounded by countryside, woodland and hills. Yet, we are a five-minute walk into the stunning medieval town of Puy l'Évêque.
The gite covers the 2 top floors of the original farmhouse and is self-contained with private access. Time and care has been taken in restoring the property, to leave the original beams exposed and to retain many of the original features. The finishes have been carefully thought through and beautiful flagstone tiles have been laid in the living area, first-floor bedroom, kitchen and front terrace.
At La Fleurieu we also offer 'Wine & Foodie Short Breaks' and 'Trail Running Breaks'.
Situated next to the south-facing terrace, there is a newly fitted, modern kitchen. The large butler sink and oak worktops give a country feel, while equipped with everything you need for your stay. Including - oven & child-safety induction hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine.
To help you relax into your stay with us, we provide you with a Gite la Fleurieu hamper. This includes - Local fresh bread, jam, milk, butter, cheeses and of course a bottle of the local Cahors wine, selected from one of the vineyards that can be seen from the property.
Your kitchen will be stocked up with the staples - tea and coffee, oil, herbs, salt and pepper and washing liquids. As well as an iron and ironing board.
To make your stay even more relaxing, we are happy to provide you with an evening sharing platter and wine, when booked in advance, at an extra cost. This will be brought to your terrace while you soak up the beautiful surroundings.
The living area, has private access to both the front and rear terrace, offering a large LCD television with English Freeview channels and a cosy seating area with a sofa, armchair and beanbags.
On the first floor, there is a spacious, double bedroom, with a solid oak five-bar gate, framed bed. The bed is fitted with crisp, white Egyptian cotton sheets.
The recently renovated attic conversion, provides two double bedrooms and a shower room with toilet. The first bedroom has 2 single beds, which can also be made into a king-size. This bedroom also provides access to the attic master bedroom, ideal for a family.
The large attic master bedroom, has been beautifully renovated to leave the original beams intact and is fitted with Egyptian white cotton.
The large airy bathroom has a luxurious slipper bath and a spacious walk-in shower. The original beams are exposed and there are stunning views over the surrounding countryside and woodland.
The attic has a newly added shower room.
Heating is provided in all the rooms in the gite as well as a heated towel rail in the main bathroom (out of season).
At La Fleurieu we have 12 acres of rural countryside for you to enjoy at your leisure. There are seating areas dotted around for you to unwind and soak up the sun and maybe enjoy a glass or two of the local wine. Both the terraces also have dining areas.
There is a table tennis table and badminton facilities for your use, children's games to keep the younger ones entertained, Wifi access, as well as a bbq for those summer evenings.
We also offer private wine-tasting experiences at La Fleurieu, hosted by 2 local winemakers.
Gite la Fleurieu has its own 2 private terraces. These provide private access to the gite for our guests. The South-facing terrace adjoins the kitchen, perfect for alfresco dining, while the large rear terrace looks out over stunning countryside and hills - a great place to relax and enjoy an evening aperitif.
We have a brand new 10 x 5m private, infinity style swimming pool for Summer 2016, with a decked terrace and stunning views over our fields and the valley.
We have ample parking and a secure bike lockup, if hiring or bringing your own bikes.

Spend a fun and fascinating evening at La Fleurieu in the company of two qualified winemakers who will take you on a tour of your tastebuds. Learn to trust in your own senses, enhance your wine appreciation and compare different wine styles in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Locally there are many Brocantes/flea markets to discover, which are held throughout the year. A chance to pick up some local treasures!
The breathtakingly beautiful, Château Bonaguil is 19km from Gite la Fleurieu and well worth a visit. Château Bonaguil dates back from the 13th century and is a very interesting place to explore. The Chateau hosts spectacular, Summer firework events as well as having restaurants and local artisans, selling unique pieces, antiques and collectibles.
If you enjoy walking, hiking or even trail running, we are located just off the Circuit des Seven Églises. This marked route, takes you through, quiet picturesque tracks, passing seven medieval churches, including the 13th century Church of Martignac.
Puy l'Évêque is an ideal location from which to explore the rural, unspoilt surrounding areas, on bike or by foot. There are vélo routes and trails throughout the region, guiding you through impressive varied terrain, undulating hills, through forest tracks, vineyards and along the meandering River Lot.
Puy l’Évêque hosts an annual wine fair in August, set on the banks of the River Lot. This is a fantastic opportunity to sample a variety of wines, from local independent wine producers, and a chance to test your tasting skills!
There are local weekly markets in Puy l'Éveque and nearby villages offering fantastic gourmet produce from the region.
During the months of July and August, be sure to visit the ‘Marche de Nuit’ or night market, held in Puy l'Évêque. Regional products are for sale and you can purchase food and wine to enjoy outside with the locals. A chance to experience a true, village atmosphere, usually accompanied by a live band.
Puy l’Évêque is a quaint town situated north of Toulouse and in The Lot Valley. The town is steeped in ancient history and is set on a hill over looking the picturesque River Lot. Through winding, narrow lanes, passing medieval houses, you can make your way up to the market place, Place de la Truffière, situated in front of the grand Mairie. Here you will find a few local shops, restaurants and bakery. A perfect place to relax, unwind and watch the world go by. This is also the location of the weekly market, where you can pick up some local French fancies. Just a stones throw from the market place is the Church of Saint Sauveur, a 14th century fortified church with an inviting entrance. Surrounding Puy l’Évêque are miles of beautiful, quiet vineyards, perfect for cycling and running or, of course, for sampling the local grape and taking in the stunning views.
The food and wine of the region, is a match made in heaven: duck, Foie gras, goats cheese, walnuts and truffles can all be found at the weekly, bustling, markets of Puy l’Évêque, Prayssac and Cazals. There are many restaurants in the area and we are more than happy to offer recommendations.
We are located just a ten minute walk/ 3 minute drive from the beautiful River Lot, where you will find - boats to hire, kayaking and canoeing, pedeloes and River tours.
The medieval town of Cahors is a thirty minute drive from Gite la Fleurieu and is famous for its unmissable Pont Valentré. One of France’s most iconic medieval bridges, dating back to the 14th century. There are cafes and restaurants aplenty and the ancient medieval quarters are home to narrow winding streets, medieval town houses and the Romanesque Cathédral St-Étienne.
Puy l’Évêque is situated at the heart of the Cahors wine region and is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and chateaux, nestled in the twists and turns of the Lot Valley.
The vineyards offer free wine-tasting and tours, where you will learn about the ‘Black wine’ of the region and sample the distinctive character of the Malbec grape, not to be missed!
We can also organise private gourmet wine and food tasting for you at the Gite, with an English speaking, experienced wine expert. Prices are per person and very reasonable.
