About this property

Comfortable Cottage, Large Pool and Great Location . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Beautifully converted stone barn and private pool located in beautiful french countryside.

Tastefully converted from a traditional barn of honey coloured stone, Les Vignes combines modern amenities with original features.

In the heart of the Dordogne Valley, Les Vignes is surrounded by beautiful countryside but is only a short distance from bustling market towns, supermarkets, restaurants and local attractions - for those of you that can tear yourself away from the large swimming pool and attractive gardens.

The countryside is a favourite with the French for its fabulous walking and cycling routes. Canoeing, golf and horse riding are on the doorstep and there are more castles, theme parks, historic sites and local events than even the most energetic family could visit. Or lounge in the sun next to the private pool with perhaps a stroll over to the fields to feed our twin donkeys.

The English owners live discreetly in the original farmhouse. We have been renting Les Vignes for 10 years and are happy to welcome back many repeat guests. We are available to provide any assistance you might require.

About the Owner, Miss Rachael Gill

We are on hand to provide you with any assistance you might need during your stay to help make sure that your holiday is the perfect break you hoped for.

Year property purchased 2002
Why this location? Originally from the UK, we looked throughout France for the "right" property and fell in love with this one as soon as we saw it. 15 years later, having completely restored the original farmhouse and the stone barn, we really couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The beautiful scenery, the history, the warm welcome from the locals, the weather, the variety of things to do, the ease of getting to and from the UK, all added up to make this property the perfect choice for us.
Unique benefits of property Les Vignes started life as a barn, constructed from the lovely local limestone. Carefully converted to combine original features with modern conveniences the property is surrounded by peaceful countryside but only minutes from supermarkets, restaurants, markets and the many attractions of the world famous Dordogne valley.
This peaceful area is perfect for cycling and walking; we can help you arrange cycle hire as well as provide route maps and local guide books. Ideally located between Sarlat and Rocamadour, we are the perfect base for a relaxing and exploring the Dordogne and Lot regions. Try the canoeing, shop at the local markets, visit a castle - or three, tour one of the underground caves, take a trip to feed the monkeys at Rocamadour - we have attractions to suit the whole family.

The Owner Recommends

Rocamadour, Sarlat, Grottes de Lacave, Martel & Souillac Markets, Chateau des Milandes, Durandal

The Dordogne Valley is packed with things to see and do - whatever your interests. The medieval towns and villages are famous arund the world - Sarlat, Rocamadour and St Cirq Lapopie are "must-sees". If history is your thing the the caves at Lascaux offer some of the best pre-historic art in Europe. For underground treats the caves at Padirac and Lacave are both fascinating and beautiful. The Castle and Museum of Medieval Warfare at the Chateau Castelnaud la Chapelle is always poplar and the neighbouring Chateau des Milandes is a favourite. You shouldn't visit south-west France without enjoying one of the traditional markets - Souillac and Martel are both worth a visit.
