A superbly built stone house with wooden floors, oak beams, full of charm and character. The interior of the holiday house is extremely spacious, with a large lounge, homely kitchen diner and 3 comfortable bedrooms, two of which have en suite bathrooms. Lovely views, particularly from the private swimming pool and terrace, over the surrounding fields and countryside. Private parking.

Nestled in the hills 3kms from the quaint village of Salviac, where you will find several bars/restaurants, general shops, depot de pain, bank, church and, just outside of the village, a small supermarket. Cazals, approximately 7kms by car, is another charming village with a boulangerie, mini supermarket, more general shops and a swimming lake. The main medieval market town of Gourdon, just 20 minutes away, is a vibrant town, full of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pavement cafes.

Le Papillon is ideally placed for visiting all the attractions of the virtually unexplored department of the Lot, the beautiful Dordogne region and perfect for a calm, tranquil and peaceful holiday.

Nearby attractions include horse riding, golf, canoeing and prehistoric caves. All around are the naturistic delights of bird watching and walking in unspoilt countryside with an abundance of wild flowers and rare orchids.

Nearby attractions include riding, golf, canoeing, paintball, tree walking, famous chateaux with museums, prehistoric caves, Rocamadour (second most visited site in France), a wealth of history, entertainment and naturistic delights of bird watching, walking in unspoilt countryside with an abundance of wild flowers and rare orchids.

This is a spacious and beautifully presented house furnished to a very high standard. Choice of comfortable seating and eating areas indoors and out. The pool is a good size for a proper swim and very clean and well maintained. First class cooking, and washing/drying facilities. A multitude of spacious bathrooms and toilets so no need to queue. The house is in a lovely secluded location with lots of scope for local walks through the woods or along the roads but it is just a couple of kilometres from the village where a local bakery and small supermarket will provide the basic necessities and 12 Km from Gourdon with a choice of large supermarkets and specialist shops. It is therefore easy to prepare meals at the house or to visit the village or surrounding towns to eat out if preferred. Limited choice of restaurants in Salviac itself but Café Bikini serves excellent food. Conveniently located for excursions to the many interesting villages, historical sites and caves in the Dordogne/Lot area with beautiful scenery around almost every bend in the road We managed to go as far afield as Bordeaux although that was a long day and possibly didn't do justice to the city, but we easily managed Rocamadour, Peche Merle, Beynac, Bonaguil, Domme and many more, We wouldn't however recommend Cahors. The house is ideal either as base for such excursions or to relax in for long days by the pool with a glass of wine. Both house and area highly recommended.

We enjoyed a lovely week at Le Papillon. We loved the house, my young daughters were very comfortable in the bedroom with 2 beds and the downstairs bedroom with en suite was perfect for my elderly mother in law. The family bathroom upstairs has a wonderful bath tub! The house has lovely views of countryside and is quiet and peaceful. It was very clean, and had everything we needed.
The outside area is very relaxing. The pool is large and clean and heated to a comfortable temperature. We made good use of the BBQ. I’m sure we will be back in the future.

We have just returned from spending 11 days in France. We spent 7 days at this wonderful villa. It was spotless. It was very spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. We had no issues with the Wifi and all 3 of us used it all the time. The pool was very clean and the sunbeds very comfy. We used the intermarche in Gourdon to do our main shop which was about 15 minutes drive from the villa. We also visited Cahors, Salviac and our favourite place was Sarlat. The weather on the whole was great, we did have 2 days rain and it was cloudy some days first thing in a morning. We would recommend this villa and hope to return again in the future.

Graham and Dee were excellent with dealing with our booking and always responded to any emails. Marj was lovely when she came to attend to the pool.

We will be using holidays French Direct again.

The villa is situated in a quiet residential lane, with nice views of trees. The region is beautiful - very green, interesting houses, quiet roads and litter free. The villa has all the facilities needed for a lovely family holiday - nice pool, comfy sun loungers, built in BBQ, mod cons in the kitchen and a large tv in the lounge. There is limited wifi, but even with 2 teenagers they managed to cope. The villa is spacious and very clean and we would certainly recommend staying there. The only downsides were no air conditioning in the bedrooms and the master bed is quite small!
The larger supermarkets are only a 15 minute drive away, so not a big problem. There are also various village markets which are well worth a visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed the location, the villa and the region.

The owner is looking at fitting black out blinds in the bedrooms that don't have any shutters, which should help keep them cool in the summer. The double bed in the downstairs bedroom is a French double which is just slightly smaller that a UK double.
