Spacious Cottage In Medieval Town. This cottage/gite is in a town setting.

Centrally located within a exceptionally pretty 12th century medieval ville, a notable historic site, a few minutes walk from the banks of the River Lot and surrounded by the Cahors award winning vineyards, our spacious cottage is ideally placed for holiday makers who want to explore this fascinating region.

The entrance leads to a fully fitted kitchen on the left, with lots of storage, fridge, cooker with hob and oven, plus dish washer, kettle, toaster etc. The kitchen is very well equipped for those who like to cook using the fresh local produce.

There is a dining area for 6, wall mounted TV with French and English channels and a bookcase with books and games.

The seating area has two very comfortable 3 seater settees, these are especially loved, with a coffee table and a lovely wood burner in the corner.

The staircase leads to a small landing with mirror and either side are two double bedrooms. Both rooms have double beds with side tables and lamps plus clothes storage units. Each room is en suite with shower, sink with vanity unit and loo.

Towels and bedding are provided, also hair dryers.
Iron and board, cleaning utensils and products such as washing up liquid and cloths plus some dish washer tablets.

We are close to all amenities such as an excellent supermarket, petrol station, 24 hour washing and drying machines, 7 restaurants, hairdressers, bank, 3 patisseries, tourist office and wine tasting shop.

Kitchen and dining

The provincal kitchen is fully fitted and includes a cooker, oven, dishwasher and fridge, kettle, toaster and cafetière, microwave and starter packs to tea, coffee and sugar and kitchen towel.

Lots of storage space with a plentiful supply of cooking utensils to satisfy most cooks, an array of pans etc.

We have a small table with 2 chairs within this area with a further 2 extra chairs provided if needed.

At the rear is a cupboard with cleaning items and iron plus board, washing basket, pegs and clothes drying rail etc.

We have a spacious dining area with a round table which can seat 6, plus 6 chairs and a wall mounted cupboard.

We supply a towel plus T towel.

Living rooms

The sitting area is spacious with 2 large comfortable 3 seater settees and a large tv with both English and French channels.

In the corner we have a slim line woodburner.

Plus a bookcase with lots of books including travel details and local places of interest. We also have a small selection of games.

Both area have large double windows making the room very airy.

Bedrooms

The two double bedroom are upstairs opposite one another with the en-suite bathrooms between them, fully insulated.

The bedrooms have a king sized bed in one room and the other room has a double bed with side tables and bedside lights. Both have units for clothes plus mirrors and hair dryers.

The large double sized south facing windows in both rooms make the rooms very airy.

Bedding is provided plus extra blankets if needed.

Bathrooms

Both en suite bathrooms have an excellent shower, vanity unit with sink plus loo.

Hand soap plus soap for the first few nights is provided plus 2 loo rolls in each bathroom.

Cleaning items are provided.

Heating

We have a wood burner, wood for it can be provided at a small cost.

We also have some centrally heated radiators.

Heating can be provided but it is not included in the price.

Entertainment

Every Tuesday morning we have our local market, as France is famous for them. Every day somewhere nearby there is a market, and plenty of cafes.

In the summer months, canoes can be hired on the river and we also have a river barge with frequent daily trips to take in the sights along the river.

Each Wednesday in July and August, every Wednesday evening, we have a free to attend 'night market' alongside the River Lot, where local producers for both food and wine sell their wares. Long tables and benches are there for locals and holiday makers to sit in the evening sunshine and have a lovely picnic.
We have annual cycle races and lots of cycling tracks, it is a passion here. Also lot of walking routes.
Our local large community open air/under cover swimming pool is a 10 minute walk away.
Lots of fetes here and nearby, including wine tasting, fireworks, musical evenings and folk nights.
The award winning Cahors vineyards are all open for wine tasting, also a local store nearby

Garden and outside

In this wonderful part of the world of (almost) constant sunshine, everyone likes to eat outside. We have a large private courtyard, enclosed by scented roses and flowers just for this purpose.
There are 3 outside tables, in different areas, with chairs, sun loungers and parasols, to enjoy your meals or glass of wine. This area is very popular with our guests.

We also have a clothes line so guests can use the 24 hour washing machine nearby and hand their clothes out to dry. Baskets and pegs are provided.

Parking and garages

Parking is free and plentiful, either opposite the cottage or a large parking area a few minutes walk away.

Visitor suitability

Our cottages is ideal for families and couples. We have a number of child friendly places nearby including two parks and private beaches.

It isn't essential to have a car and many guests have stayed and enjoyed everything locally, however, having a car means that the exceptional historic sites can also be visited and enjoyed.

We are ideally located so that our guests can eat and drink in wonderful highly rated restaurants just minutes away and not have to worry about driving home in the evenings.

I love France and my passion is English gardening. I am always looking to buy plants and especially hard to find varieties. It is fabulous having such lovely warm weather most of the year and being able to socialize outside so much, we have so many fetes on especially in the summer months.<br/>The food here is amazing, I am always out having lunch with someone, €14 for lunch is such a bargain. Learning French has helped me intergrate with my neighbours so much. I love to make things too.

Why this location? Centrally located with a medieval 12th century historic site, surrounded by award winning Cahors vineyards and a few minutes from the river Lot. Chateaux a few minutes walk away, world famous visitor sites closeby including cave paintings and pilgrim sites.
We have a supermarket 5 minutes away, petrol station, 3 boulangeries, 3 hair dressers, 8 restaurants, a library and shops all within a 10 minute walk.
A huge indoor/outdoor swimming pool is with a 10 minute walk and two man-made beaches within 45 minutes. Lots of weekly markets and brocante shops close by and lovely hot weather in which to go shopping in.
The River Lot is just a few minutes walk away, ideal for any fishermen, it can also be swum in. We have 2 beaches next to the river both 15 minutes away.
A huge amount of safe walking routes and especially cycling are fully mapped out. We have an annual cycle race here each year.

Family run Hotel and restaurant of over 100 years, just a few minutes walk. Has an inside restaurant, bar and outside garden restaurant, popular with locals and holidaymakers. Great friendly service and excellent French food, they poached a first rate Chef. Relaxed attitude.

Medieval restaurant

Fabulous contemporary food with great presentation, popular with locals and holiday makers. Husband and wife team, very friendly. Not a lot of outside space but the food makes up for it. Further up Grand Rue, just a short walk.
