My husband and I have been property managers for 15 years, looking after second homes for owners wishing to rent them for the summer season. In 2014 we took over a small holiday rentals company Poolside Farmhouses & Cottages. Over the years we have amassed an excellent understanding of the standards required and expected by holiday makers and property owners alike.
|Year property purchased||1997|
|Why this location?||Peaceful rural setting, yet within short driving distance of a small village with all the usual amenities.|
|Unique benefits of property||Infinity swimming pool and covered Abri next to the pool, set up with everything you need for dining al fresco.|
Nearby attractions include riding, golf, canoeing, paintball, tree walking, famous chateaux with museums, prehistoric caves, Rocamadour (second most visited site in France), a wealth of history, entertainment and naturistic delights of bird watching, walking in unspoilt countryside with an abundance of wild flowers and rare orchids.
I had a wonderful stay in La chaise de Pereyroux end of May 2018 , the Gite contained everything you need with the comforts of a home plus it has a good size pool which is a suntrap and also has a BBQ area. It has a outside eating area with fantastic views. On my daily walks I came across beautiful wild orchids which I have never seen before and I was also lucky enough to see deer walking through the woods. The beauty of this Gite is you are away from everything yet close enough to Soulliac and Gourdon where there are supermarkets and restaurants and chateau's etc.
If you wanted to go out for a meal locally I really recommend Chez Nicole's who serve wonderful home cooked meals at a good price.
There is a wonderful market in Sarlat which is really big and continues through cobbled alleys and the old buildings are amazing and I really enjoyed looking around while having a coffee The gite is brilliant for families , friends and is also wheelchair friendly. Its nice to have information of the local activities like shows, music festivals and vite graniers canoeing on the Dordoyne best way to see the sights. I cant wait to come back again and I would recommend this gite very highly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. The house is maintained to a high standard so comments like yours go a long way to affirming all efforts are worthwhile. We are extremely happy to know that you had such a wonderful time, we love the house and think it is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pereyroux in the not too distant future. Very best wishes, Dee Bailey. Poolside Farmhouses and Cottages
Pereyroux was close to being the perfect Dordogne holiday gite. It was beautifully situated, blissfully peaceful, had a fabulously well equipped kitchen, a BBQ, a table tennis table and a lovely mini-inifinity pool. The only thing missing , which was not the fault of the owner's, was a local boulangerie. For fresh bread and croissants, we had to drive 5 minutes to the next village St Julien de Lampon- which was no real hardship. In St Julien, you can also find a nice bar//restaurant, a pharmacist, a butcher and a minimart.
The owner was friendly and helpful without being intrusive and we were pleasantly surprised by a very nice welcome hamper. She was also a mine of information on what to see and where to eat.
The property itself was in good condition, being a barn that was converted only a few years ago. You do have to watch your head on the low support beams though. The furniture was shabby-chic but perfectly serviceable.
The only downside to the beautiful, quiet location is that you do have to drive everywhere but the roads around Pereyroux were mostly empty and it was an easy half-hour drive to all the major sights and towns.
Overall, we had a great time staying at Pereyroux and would recommend it .
Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Pereyroux and we hope to welcome you back there, or to one of our other lovely properties, in the not too distant future. Best wishes, Dee. Poolside Farmhouses & Cottages.
This was our 2nd visit to Pereyroux and it didn't disappoint. The setting is stunning and the accommodation perfectly suited our family from a 5 year old grandson to an active 88 year old! The gite would be suitable for a couple of families as it is very spacious with 3 bathrooms. There were lots of personal touches including wine and nibbles on arrival and recommendations for local events. The "abri" alongside the pool is perfect, lots of pool toys and even a fridge to keep things fresh for our lunch every day. The pool is perfectly clean and well looked after. Tonic, the owner, is about next door but is very discreet, good to know she is on hand for any problems. Because of our previous visit it felt like home straightaway and we look forward to booking again next year. We usually never go back to the same place but this was a request from everyone in the family.
It is at the high end cost wise, it would be great to get discounts if returning! Bit of a treck to the supermarket although the local store in St Julien de Lampon had most essentials. The bakery was fantastic in St Julien although we did panic them ordering 8 croissants, 4 pain au chocolat and 2 baguettes!
We enjoyed a great canoe trip from Vitrac to Beynac and of course the market in Sarlat is fantastic.
Tonic and I thank you for your lovely comments Jan. We are delighted you enjoyed a second stay at Pereyroux and we look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future :-). Warmest wishes, Dee
