We spent 4 years looking for our dream home in South West France. The Lot region was a favourite for us, because of its relatively sparse population, the gastronomy we knew well and loved, the conviviality of the locals and the dramatic scenic landscape, and of course the weather!<br/>Our intention was to find a Manoir or small chateau which would combine an authentic regional look with the potential to become a secondary home, matching our vision for comfort, style, space and privacy.
|Year property purchased||2005|
|Why this location?||We fell in love with Manoir Les Gaillardoux at first sight, but it needed a lot of love and care to match our vision, so we set to work … 17 local artisans poured heart and soul into its restoration under the leadership of Francoise, our Maitre d’Oeuvre. The results? In 2006, the butterfly came out of its chrysalis. The Manoir had become a home, which subsequently earned the top 5-star rating from the French Ministry of Tourism.|
|Unique benefits of property||A Manoir for all seasons, cool in summer and warm in winter, it is generously equipped to welcome up to 12 guests seeking style, comfort, space and privacy.|
Share a cocktail of historical exploration, French gastronomic dinners and fine wines with like-minded people while enjoying a thoroughly epicurean break in the stylish comfort of Manoir Les Gaillardoux.
Medieval clifftop village overlooking the Lot river. Spectacular views across the landscape, narrow cobbled streets, weird little shops, good restaurants and cafes. Said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, so best seen outside the main tourist season.
Another spectacular village, perched on cliffs overlooking the Dordogne river. Population around 650 but with excellent hotel and restaurant facilities. Originally part of a pilgrim route. They must have lived well!
Voted the best market in Midi-Pyrenees, the colourful, twice weekly market is surrounded by bars and cafes for your delight, relaxation and nourishment.
