Mas de Lizet Ouest is a stunning stone farmhouse with private south facing swimming pool, set in 3 acres of gardens, with woods and a walnut orchard and several sun terraces. This well-equipped gite has a wealth of traditional features, with beams throughout. It is situated on the edge of the peaceful hamlet of Fajoles, with a weekly summer market, and is ideally placed for canoeing and cycling as well as sightseeing.

The property has 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, and 3 bathrooms. There are 2 fireplaces with wood burning stoves. The main living area has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. The kitchen has a dishwasher, gas hob, built-in oven, fridge-freezer and Nespresso machine. Stairs lead from the entrance hall to a large double bedroom and a separate bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Downstairs there is a further lounge in the converted barn, with large glazed frenchdoors. A wooden staircase leads to a large mezzanine off which are a twin and a double bedroom and a bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The third double bedroom, with en suite shower room, is on the ground floor. There is also a utility room on the ground floor with washing machine and a second fridge. There is wi-fi throughout. The house, pool and garden benefit from the sun all day. There are several sitting areas, including a large partly covered sun terrace, which is ideal for dining or just to relax in the shade, and a private swimming pool (8m x 5m) with Roman steps. There is a gas barbecue.

The house looks over its own grounds in a secluded valley of woods and fields.The garden has abundant flowers, wildlife including roe deer, red squirrels, woodpeckers and nightingales. There is ample parking for several cars.

Fajoles is on the border of the Lot and the Dordogne departments and close to the Dordogne river. It is near the bustling town of Gourdon with shops, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets, and within easy reach of the main towns of Sarlat, Rocamadour, Domme and numerous attractions, such as caves, chateaux and the Dordogne River.

Bed linen and towels are included in the price. The pool is not overlooked.

Please note that the minimum age requirement is 12 years of age.

Kitchen and dining

The main room in the house is a large kitchen/dining room/living space. The kitchen is very well-equipped with a gas hob, built in oven and microwave. There is also a dishwasher and Nespresso machine. There is access directly on to a large sunny terrace and the pool from this room. There is a large farmhouse dining table which accommodates 8 people. There is also a sofa and comfortable chairs. There is a tv with English and French satellite.

Living rooms

There are 2 living rooms, the main one as described above, and a stunning salon which is open to the rafters. This room has 2 sofas and a tv with DVD player, and large French doors leading out to a terrace.

Bedrooms

There are 4 bedrooms. The beautiful master double bedroom is accessed by its own stairs, with an adjacent bathroom.
Bedroom 2 is downstairs and has a double bed. This room has an en suite shower room.
Bedroom 3 is upstairs and has a double bed.
Bedroom 4 is hostairs and has 2 single beds.

All the bedrooms have summer duvets and bed linen is provided.

Bathrooms

The house benefits from having 3 bathrooms.

The main bathroom serves the master bedroom, but is separate, so can be used as a family bathroom. It has a bath with over bath shower.
The downstairs bathroom is an en suite for Bedroom 2. It has a walk-in shower, and benefits from being on the ground floor.
The third bathroom is upstairs next to Bedrooms 3 and 4. It has a bath with over bath shower.

Heating

It is rare that you would need heating in the summer. There are electric radiators and heated towel rails.

Entertainment

Swimming pool; boardgames; English and French satellite tv, DVD players and DVDS. There is WiFi throughout the property.

Garden and outside

The main attraction is the outdoor pool with sun terrace. This benefits from sun all day. The pool is fenced and is a uniform 1.2 metres deep. It has Roman steps.

There is an outside covered terrace next to the house with ample seating for 8, a lovely space to retreat from the heat of the day. There is also an outdoor table and 8 chairs on the sunny terrace. There is a gas barbecue.

There is another terrace with table and chairs at the front of the house.

The house has ample parking and benefits from extensive grounds, with lawns, trees and a walnut orchard.

Visitor suitability

The house is not suitable for babies and young children, so we only accept bookings from groups with children over 12 years of age. The house is not suitable for people with disabilities, due to the number of steps. However, the downstairs bedroom with en suite shower room is a plus for elderly couples.

Please note that there are some low beams in the house, particularly in the downstairs bedroom.

We have owned this property for 3 years and carried out a lot of improvements, retaining the character but adding all comforts. We previously rented a property in Normandy for several years, so have many years experience.

Why this location? Because the area is so beautiful and varied. There is so much to see and do here: chateaux, caves, the river Dordogne, towns such as Domme, Sarlat, Rocamadour, markets, the countryside. There are many activities, including cycling, walking and canoeing. At the same time it is very peaceful and away from it all: full of wildlife and wildflowers.

Well appointed house with lots of original features and plenty of indoor and outside space. The outdoor pool benefits from sun all day. Plenty of outside terraces and grounds. Unique house retaining lots of character. Whether you are looking for a relaxing holiday, or enjoy sightseeing and activities this is the ideal house. Mas de Lizet is near to the town of Gourdon with many restaurants, bars and supermarkets and a cinema. The market town of Souillac is nearby as well.

Gourdon is the nearest market town, about 6 miles from Fajoles. This bustling town has restaurants, supermarkets, banks, tourist attractions and a popular Saturday market.

Fajoles

Fajoles is a picturesque hamlet, which a short stroll from the house. There is a museum of prehistory in the village, a 12th century Church and a weekly Sunday morning market. This is an ideal start to your holiday as they sell bread, vegetables, meat, local produce as well as having a bar selling Sangria and beer. What better way to start your holiday!

There are many walks and cycle rides from the house.

Canoeing

The house is 10 minutes drive from the Dordogne river, including canoe hire. There are several canoe hire places within a few minutes drive. One of them also has cycle hire.

Masclat

The village of Maclât is 4 kilometres away, and has a depot de pain, as well as 2 restaurants: Chez Nicole and Chez Crouzil. They both provide typical French cuisine and have set menu lunches.

Milhac - Delicatessesn Restaurant
