About this property

Luxury Accessible Cottage On A Small Holding. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

The cottage has just been built so everything is pristine.

It is situated in the middle of the land near the main house. It has it's own parking spot, outstanding views to the front and wooded views to the rear.

The setting on the land is beautiful. There is a pool a short walk from the property which is fronted with 2 double frenchdoors. There is an outside fully covered area to the side so you can sit in the shade or rain and enjoy the view and another sitting area at the other end of the cottage.

This is an experience holiday. It is on a sustainable small holding with an underground vegetable garden and raised vegetable beds. You can pick fresh vegetables and fruit when in season. There are chickens in abundance so plenty of fresh eggs in all colours. Donkeys to cuddle and sheep to make you laugh.

The cottage is accessible for all so has a very large en suite bathroom with a shower with a seat. The land is accessible where we can make it and we have raised beds for ease of gardening for everyone.

There is a pizza oven made out of cob with a bbq and sofa etc. on a hardstanding near the cottage.



Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is newly fitted and modern with a induction hob with 3 ovens.

There is a butler sink, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and clothes dryer in case of rain.

The dining table is opposite the kitchen, open plan. It is an incredibly equipped kitchen with everything you may need and, if not, just ask and we will find it (within reason).

So your arrival is as relaxed as possible we produce a welcome hamper which includes:

Bread, butter, jam, milk and some local wine.

We also stock the kitchen with tea, coffee and basic cooking needs such as pasta and sauce etc. in case you arrive late. We are also happy to provide food platters (at an additional cost) if you don't feel like cooking. We are big on cheeses so if you would like a wonderful platter, we can cater very easily.

Living rooms

The living room overlooks the land to the front. In the distance you can see a chateau which is beautiful although in high summer you see it through the trees. To the rear you can see the nature in the woods.

There are two armchairs and a sofa which converts into a sprung sofabed. There is a woodburner for the winter months.


The bedroom has a double bed with entry into the en suite. It is wheelchair accessible and has a sliding door for easy access.

The window looks out onto the wood, so you can lie in bed and watch nature.

Above the bed is a velux window so you can star gaze.


There are 2 bathrooms.

A en suite shower room which is wheelchair accessible and has a sit in shower, toilet and wash hand basin.

The second shower room is off the lounge with another shower, toilet and wash hand basin. This is for guests if they stay on the sofabed.


There is a woodburner in the lounge for the winter months, an oil filled radiator in the bedroom and shower room and a fuel filled heater for instant heat.

Garden and outside

There is 5 acres for you to enjoy.

There are walks through the land with a sofa over looking the pond. Walks through the woods and down by the stream.

You can sit by the pool and enjoy the sun. You can sit in the shade in the summer kitchen. You can enjoy the bbq and pizza oven.

There is a designated parking space next to the cottage.

We moved here just over 3 years ago. I am British and have had a house in France for over 11 years. I have also lived abroad and in the North of England and in London for most of my life. Charles has lived in the USA for most of his adult life as well as South Africa, Greece and France.

Why this location? Gosh, I have no idea. We found the property we wanted for a project and it just happened to be in a beautiful location. We were very lucky. The property used to be owned by a commune in Paris as a campsite for their young in the summer. It was a blank canvas when we bought it. It had never been a house, just a campsite with a meeting room, office and commercial kitchen. We had the joy of making it into anything we wanted. We decided to use the land as a showcase for sustainable living. This location has been perfect for this. The trees are covered with lichen because the air is so pure. There are no streetlights so the stars are amazing at night. It is a truly beautiful place to live alongside nature.
Unique benefits of property The Cottage is a detached building in the middle of the land. In the distance you can see a chateau. There are fresh eggs every day and fresh produce too depending on the time of year. It is not often you get to see so many different ideas for sustainable living, from the small raised beds to the underground vegetable garden. We have a chicken coop made from mud with a straw roof, one made from pallets, one on wheels as a caravan, a donkey shelter made of pallets, raised vegetable beds made from rubble sacks and some from tyres. Four donkeys, 2 sheep, a miniature pony, about 45 chickens, 2 dogs and 1 cat.

Plus we also have a swimming pool and lovely walks through the woods and down by the stream. The cottage bedroom window over looks the wood so you can lie in bed and watch nature and a vellux above the bed so you can star gaze.

Local Restaurants

We are lucky to have a couple of excellent restaurants in Puy L'Eveque open all year, Le Medieval and Henrys. Also during the summer, right on the River Lot, is Le Pigeonnier. Le Truffiere serves good honest food where you can get a four course lunch for under 14 euros. Brilliant.

The area is scattered with little villages with restaurants just waiting to be discovered.

Wine-Tasting And Tours

We are situated in the heart of the Cahors wine region. Malbec is the predominant grape here. The wines are all very different depending on their valley top location of in the depth of the valley in mist or red clay soil, grey clay soil, so many different geographical conditions. A local company does some fabulous tours nearby. Just ask for details. There are many biodynamic vineyards here too and Chateau Chambert being one of the most beautiful.

We can also offer private wine tasting with a master of wines.

Food Night Markets

During July and August there are food night markets all over, and luckily on different nights. Our favourite is in Montcabrier on a Friday evening, just up the road. Truly stunning with fabulous steaks and chicken (and salad for vegans).

Puy l'Eveque is on a Wednesday night on the river Lot and there are plenty of others scattered in the village nearby.

They also sell regional goods and wines and have a local musician playing. Lovely.


There are markets all over, especially in the summer months. Prayssac has one of the most famous food markets on a Friday 6.7km. Wonderful fresh produce.
Puy l'Eveque has a general market on a Tuesday. Cahors has markets on various days and is famous just because it is. Montcuq on a Sunday as is Cazals, which is one of our favourites as it is busy all year long.
