About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Oenone Sparkman

We fell in Love with Las Tuillieres 36 years ago and bought it before we were married.

Year property purchased 1982
Why this location? The Lot and Tarn et Garonne are beautiful valleys with so much to do. We love the old villages and markets and the wine tasting.
Unique benefits of property Las Tuillieres is very private with a large garden an orchard and two swimming and fishing lakes.

The Owner Recommends

Wine Tasting, Vide Greniers and Restaurants

There are abundant vinyards in the Cahors region it is great fun driving around the area visiting as many as you can. Also the Vide Greniers {car boots} are infinately superior to the British equivalent, well worth checking out. You can get a list of these from the Tourist Information Center in Montaigu de Quercy at the same time you get the list of markets and brocantes in the area. There are some fabulous restaurants nearby a list of recommendations are in the house.

The property was described as having a lake for swimming but this was totally unusable. Access to the property is up a steep, gutted unmade road. Unless you have a 4x4 it is not accessible. We had to resort to leaving cars at the bottom of the hill and walking up - not easy for loading and unloading. Would not be good for older people. The property sleeps 8 people but outdoor furniture supplied was not enough. Only 4 decent chairs! There is not enough storage space in the bedrooms- one of the bedrooms had no storage space at all. Water pressure for the showers is not good. The kitchen cupboards need replacing and the utility room off the kitchen is not safe if you have young children - no door to it. The setting of the house is beautiful but it is very remote.

Owner response

The house is not suitable for elderly or disabled people we make that clear in our advert. This is a do it yourself holiday not a hotel. If you want a hotel with matching towels this is not for you. The house is remote in beautiful countryside. There is a steep driveway which is a public right of way and not our property and it is perfectly accessible with any car. We hire ordinary cars every year and have had no problems. The lakes are lakes not swimming pools we swim in them every year. We have recently had a problem with algae but it is now resolved by putting a water pump into the lake for oxygenation and organic agaecide. There are hanging cupboards in every room except the children's room more than enough space to store clothes for a holiday. We have never had any problems with water pressure ourselves using the source water but if the pressure is low you can always turn the water onto the mains.
