About the Owner/Advertiser, Miss Laura Horvath

We're enthusiasts of food, travel & adventure & spent many years exploring Europe in our old bus before backpacking further afield to both Cuba & Morocco. Inspiration led us to create & build our house entirely ourselves & learning how to work with old materials - ancient tiles & timbers has given us a home to be proud of. Gardening is also high on the list & we have a fantastic organic garden which along with our own off grid electricity makes us virtually self sufficient.

Year property purchased 1997
Why this location? The local area is fascinating, so much to see. We've travelled all over France and have never found a more beautiful location - it has it all.
Unique benefits of property Have you ever sat in a garden where over 30 types of butterfly drift past, where the silence is all enveloping, birdsong, dragonflies over the wildlife ponds. Where the light reflects the blue sky above & at night there are a million stars in a velvety sky. Our property is unique in so many ways - clean, quiet and totally relaxing.

The Owner Recommends

A Wonderful Sunday market in St Antonin Noble Val

St Antonin Noble Val has a wonderful Sunday market, an outing not to be missed, when the ancient cobbled streets fill with a vibrant array of local food, arts and crafts. Buy wonderful presents and food for a picnic by the river, then sit outside a cafe in the sun and just take it all in. You will find a local market nearby everyday.

Canoeing Down the River

The river gorge is incredible when seen from the water. It is easy to hire a canoe and drift downstream, take a picnic to eat on the way, a minibus will collect you from your destination and bring you back to St Antonin Noble Val. You may see a kingfisher flash past, swim in the silky water and soak up the sun.

Eating Out

La Terrace in Penne, 10 minutes away offering great food and an unforgetable view of the ruined castle

Good Food

Many really nice restaurants in the immediate area offering a wide variety of food.

Gourmand Events

These are held every summer and supply an evening of great eating of local foods and wine, an outdoor event full of great French authenticity.

Lying in the sun

Listening to the cicadas and birdsong from the comfort of a sunlounger a glass of cold wine at your side and a good book.

The area abounds with orchids in the spring, the early purple turn the fields mauve, the lizard orchid which grows to nearly a metre high, to many varieties to list. The hay meadows are a sight to be seen, a mass of poppies, scabious, wild geraniums.

Chateaux, castles medieval hilltop villages, unspoiled scenery this is an area not to be missed.

Many really great walks from the front door, long, short, easy & hard, a walk for everyone, spectacular scenery & rarely another soul.

Watching the Butterflies in the Garden

Last year we counted over 30 species of butterflies around the garden, the lavender garden is a cloud of varieties, the meadow is alive whilst the pond attracts many beautiful dragonflies.

9.8 / 10 S & G Chichester 6 June, 2016

Another special holiday at Beausoleil. This time we had disappointing weather but enjoyed many good walks and meals out and then the peace and comfort back "home". On cool evenings the wood burner was a delight. As always Sid and Laura were exceptional hosts.

10 / 10 S & G Chichester 26 July, 2015

This eco gite in the woods was even better than we had expected. Sid and Laura have created a special place of peace which is also comfortable, well equipped and tastefully furnished.
They are "off grid", so no washing machine, but excellent lighting, a good shower, a well equipped kitchen, a low energy hairdryer and a very good bed!
For us it was perfect with good walks nearby, pretty villages to visit and just a short drive to St Antonin with the famous Sunday market.
