Albi is the capital of the Tarn and a UNESCO heritage site with an impressive rose brick cathedral, the Toulouse Lautrec art gallery and museum and the Palais de la Berbie overlooking the Tarn river. It is a pretty, large town with plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you entertained.
A world heritage site, it would be a shame to miss out on a visit to Carcassonne even though it is 2hour 15 minute drive away. It is a medieval walled city. A truly amazing site which looks like it belongs in a film. If you get the chance visit the city between end of June and beginning of August when the festival is on and buy tickets to see some music groups (of all genres) in the outdoor amphitheatre. The atmosphere is superb.
A breathtaking medieval bastide town with stunning architecture, museums, small shops and plenty of restaurants. It has been voted one of the best villages in France and is very popular. It is a steep walk to the top or you can catch 'le petit train' to whisk you up. There is a market on Saturday mornings.
On the plateau between Cordes, Albi and Gaillac you will find the Gaillac wine region with vineyards stretching over the plateau. There many domaines where you can go for tastings and buying wine direct from the grower.
Kayaking down the river Aveyron through the gorge at St Antonin noble Val is wonderful. It is a gentle river so no experience necessary and mini-bus will pick you up at the end and bring you back to the start point. The scenery is stunning and I recommend lunch by the river on route and a swim in the clear waters.
A small pretty town that sits at the confluence of two rivers, the Viaur and the Averyon. The ruined chateau is perched above the river Viaur. The town has several restaurants and bars and all the local amenities one needs.
Extremely picturesque historic village with a fortress on high overlooking sumptuous countryside and the river. Quaint houses and restaurants line to street leading up to the fortress.
A very pretty medieval town nestled at the bottom of the Averyon gorge alongside the Averyon river where you can higher kayaks. St Antonin has a vibrant, atmospheric Sunday market which is a must to visit. There are plenty of restaurants and independent shops to peruse. St Antonin was the setting for the film Charlotte Gray staring Cate Blanchett and the soon to be released Steven Speilberg film 'The One Hundred Foot Journey' starring Helen Mirren
St Cirq is an extremely attractive little village in the Lot region. It is perched above the river Lot seemingly clinging on. It has steep medieval streets and a ruined fortress with dramatic views over the river valley. Take lunch in one of the many restaurants, look around the independent shops and artists galleries and then visit the Pech-Merle caves, just up the road, to see the cave paintings.
A bit further a field is the pink city of Toulouse which sits on the banks of the river Garonne. An old and ornate city with a rich history so has lots of museums and beautiful architecture. It the the home base for the european aerospace industry and for Airbus (visits to their factory are available)
We returned to Jasmine Cottage this summer and had yet another beautiful, relaxing holiday. The property and pool are perfect for people looking for a quiet retreat in the Tarn countryside. The cottage is spacious and includes all facilities you need. All are a high standard and very well looked after.
There are many great places to visit that are a short distance from the propertty like Najac and Cordes-Sur-Ciel, where we had lovely food.
We would highly recommend Jasmine Cottage.
Thank you for your kind words. Trevor & I are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Jasmine cottage. It was lovely to see you both again and we hope you will visit again in the future.
This was a real lucky find - we struck gold! We had such a great time here, the hosts, weather, cottage, surroundings were all just perfect, everything taken care off we simply couldn't have wanted more. Already thinking about our next visit, cant recommend this enough, you'd be a fool to book elsewhere. What are you waiting for??? ...
Thank you for your kind words. We are thrilled you had a great time as that is what it is all about for us. Hope to see you again soon.
A wonderful cottage in a perfect location.
One week enjoying the cottage, pool and surrounding area.
A very well presented property, with all of the amenities required for a perfect break.
A great kitchen and living room, perfectly balanced for the property - a cosy bedroom with en suite, two terraces with total privacy all round.
The pool was perfect with an unspoiled view of the surrounding countryside, and only twenty steps from the front door.
The local area was a pleasure to enjoy with lots to do - sightseeing, sports and lots of country walks.
A must for any couple wanting to relax in the best possible way.
