About this property

Secluded Stone Villa with Private Pool. This villa is in a rural setting.

The whole house, grounds and pool are exclusively yours, and the property is not overlooked by anyone else ... so you get total privacy in a place all to yourselves.

A beautiful rural setting, yet just a few minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of the bustling market town of Caylus.

Maison Boye welcomes you to the combination of the ancient charm and character of a 200 year old Quercy property with all the requirements for modern living. It has exposed oak beams, walls a yard thick, a traditional log fireplace, quarry tile floors ... plus bright new bathrooms, a contemporary kitchen, and a generous helping of home entertainments. It stands in private grounds of over an acre, has a large 10m x 5m swimming pool with Roman steps, a water slide, underwater lighting and a wireless safety alarm, a sun terrace, a raised patio with shaded pergola and built-in stone barbecue.

Maison Boye is equipped with wi-fi broadband including an outside repeater, telephone, satellite radio and tv, dvd, cd and Bluetooth players, Playstation games console, Dell laptop, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, ceramic hob, freezer, twin fridges, air-conditioner units, etc. etc.

The property is fully serviced with bedmaking, laundry, linen and towels provided, and has visiting pool maintenance every week.

Very flexible accommodation makes Maison Boye suitable for a wide range of bookings - from discerning couples in the low season, through to a maximum of 10, such as 2 families with children sharing in the summer. Ideal for 4 to 8 at any time!

During the high summer season we operate with Saturday changeovers and offer one, two and three week stays. At other times we can be more flexible on the changeover day if you want to stay on for a few extra days to take advantage of cheaper flights etc.

We then traditionally offer a special October deal for couples or small groups who want to spend an extended autumn period in the area – pay for two weeks and stay for as long as you want, up to the whole month!

Any odd gaps that may arise are listed in our News section at reduced prices.

To be fair to smaller parties, we split the rent from the laundry and charge for it separately at £25 per person rather than charge every booking for a full house. This includes all the bedding, bathroom towels, and tea-towels.

We welcome family groups, couples and well behaved pets, but don't accept bookings for events such as stag or hen parties. In case of doubt, references may be required.

Kitchen and dining

Fitted modern kitchen with stone sink, ceramic halogen hob, eye-level multi-function oven with grill, twin refrigerators, separate freezer, built-in dishwasher and washing machine.

Dining Room: Linked to the kitchen through an original stone archway, the dining room features exposed oak beams, a full sized fireplace with canopy, large farmhouse table with seating for eight, and the stairs up to Chambre Antoine, the master bedroom. Below the stairs is a writing desk with wi-fi router and a laptop for guests to use, plus a wireless landline telephone. A baby's highchair is also provided.

Living rooms

Comfortably appointed with quality furniture, traditional stone benching, wall mounted satellite tv, plenty of books, traditional games, dvd, cd and Bluetooth players, and a large collection of family dvds. Double frenchdoors to the outside.

Chambre Clement:
A cosy, quiet sitting room looking out to the woods - either an escape from the children or, by using the ClikClak in its bed mode, becomes a compact downstairs double bedroom. Bring your paints along too... Clement features pictures and drawings of Maison Boye kindly donated by previous guests.

Chambre Antoine: The master bedroom, with a natural wood floor, double bed, hidden "walk-in" wardrobe, its own stairs from the dining room and an ensuite.

Chambre Baptiste: A bright, large and airy bedroom with flexibility in how its used.

The most popular configuration is as a jumbo double under the flowing canopy with two singles at the far end. Ideal for parents with young children who want them nearby, or just as a very spacious double bedroom. Another arrangement is to uncouple the divans making up the double to have the room set out as four singles - ideal for older children to share as a fun dormitory. Baptiste also has a writing desk with a Playstation (games to suit all ages) and the option of a baby cot with mattress.

Chambre Delphine: Double bed, bedside tables, built-in wardrobe, and a traditional windowed pigeonier feature.

Chambre Clement: Ground floor sitting room with double bed ClikClak.

En suite to Chambre Antoine: A bespoke glass shower cabin, boutique toilet, and a designer washbasin installation, all set off with blue tinted mood lighting.

Shower room: Large walk-in style glass panel shower with toilet and washbasin. Conveniently located on the ground floor to provide easy showering before/after a swim, and also, because its next to Chambre Clement, can be this bedroom's "nearly en suite".

Family bathroom: Large bath with dual high/low shower, twin washbasins and toilet. Situated between Baptiste and Delphine.

Summer: Portable air conditioning units for cooling the bedrooms on hot nights.

Spring/Autumn: Fixed and portable electric oil radiators, plus a traditional full sized fireplace with iron "dogs" for roaring log fires.

Winter: Gas central heating. (Note: gas used for heating is chargeable)

Satellite tv and radio with added sound system.

Dvd, cd and Bluetooth players - plus a wide choice of dvds.

Playstation with games.

Cupboard full of board, card and puzzle games.

Badminton/volleyball net, boules set, bats and shuttlecocks etc.

Garden and outside

Set in its own completely private grounds of over an acre.

A raised patio, featuring a stone barbecue, is set below an attractive bamboo pergola ... ideal for relaxed summer meals al fresco.

From here, the gently sloping sun terrace, equipped with smart wooden sun loungers and a swing seat, leads down to the private swimming pool... and for the restless, an external wi-fi repeater provides outside internet access too.

The swimming pool is a generous 10m x 5m with semi-circular Roman steps into the shallow end, a water slide into the deep end, and with halogen underwater lighting for the evenings. It features automatic filtering and uses the latest environmentally friendly low chlorine water treatments.

A sophisticated alarm system will detect a small child falling into the water, and not only sounds a siren at the poolside, but also triggers a remote wireless monitor in the house.

Sports and Exercise

There are tennis courts in Caylus, white water thrills and mountain biking in nearby St Antonin, plus horse riding and golf etc. not far away. There's cycling and marked out walks around the area, and you don't have to go too far for theme parks, zoos and whatever else might take your fancy.

Castles, History and Arts

Caylus is an ancient medieval market town built in a natural valley - with many of its original stone buildings and walkways remaining in the historic centre, together with a ruined castle on top of the hill by the lake. You don't have to go far to find other castles and monuments - with award winning Najac just 30 minutes drive away. The arts feature strongly too, with craft shops and studios in the town, and the world famous Toulouse Lautrec museum just down the road at Albi.

Frequent live music in and around Caylus with bustling bars and evening events throughout the summer. Two nightclubs within 20 minutes drive for the energetic, or just lay out on the sunloungers at the house with a glass of wine and admire the Milky Way in our light pollution free setting!

What a fantastic find!
We were a party of six adults and we had a great week. The property is very quiet, peaceful and secluded with plenty of room for us all. The pool is lovely and we spent many an hour sitting on the steps, chatting, reading and drinking local wine, perfect! The bbq was well used and we enjoyed a lot of fish from the supermarket in a nearby town and from the local market.
The local town is within walking distance however it is in a valley so it is a steep hill walk on the way back so may not be suitable for everyone. The town is not really touristy, which we loved. There is a selection of shops, including a fantastic bakery and an off licence where you can bring a bottle(s!) and buy some very cheap local wine.
We will be back!
