|Le gite du chateau de Pervinquiere||Self Catering||Flexible||2||4||2|
Situated in beautiful countryside between Najac and St Antonin Noble Val, alongside the ruins of a medieval castle, this holiday cottage offers flexible accommodation for singles, couples or groups of up to 4 people. It has been recently renovated and offers a fitted kitchen, en suite shower rooms, a shady garden and the use of a large swimming pool. Prices vary according to the number of occupants and the season.
The accommodation is situated on the first floor and accessed by external stone steps and a stone veranda, which runs along the back of the house with doors to the main room and a bedroom.
Living room / diner / kitchen (7 x 4m) with fitted kitchen and a living / dining area with French doors leading out to steps to the path to the pool. The kitchen is equipped with an eye level electric fan oven/grill, and a microwave in a tall unit, a 4-burner gas hob, and a dishwasher plus crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.
The living area is furnished with a settee, and a television with British Sky and French TNT satellite channels.
There are two bedrooms:
The first bedroom (23m2) is off the living room and has a double bed (140 x 190), a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
A part-glazed door to the veranda giving independent access. There is a spacious en-suite shower room with toilet, basin and tiled shower.
The second bedroom (5,50 x 4m) is a converted attic room accessed by a staircase from the living room. Exposed timbers and dormer windows give this room a cosy traditional feel. Twin single beds and a chest of drawers.
There are two en suite shower rooms: each with a washbasin, and toilet.
The house has electric wall-mounted radiators in each room, and a heated towel rail in each bathroom.
Outside you have a stone terrace shaded by a magnificent wisteria on the north side of the house. This has direct access from the kitchen and bedroom, making it very convenient for taking meals outside. Alternatively, there is a small garden on the other side.
The pool is situated about 100 meters away from the house, and has a tiled terrace on which you can sunbathe. This pool also serves the house but it is exceptionally large (16 x 8m) so there is ample room for everyone. It has steps leading down to the shallow end and shelves down to 2.3m at the deep end.
The pool area complies with safety regulations with a fence and child-proof locking gates to which you will be given a key. It is however the responsibility of the adult members of your party to supervise any children to prevent accidents. The security system should prevent unauthorised access to the pool area but it doesn’t replace your vigilance so please supervise the younger members of your party closely!
There is ample parking on site.
Not suitable for disabled visitors.
Use of a 16m x 8m pool (shared with our other property)
You also have use of a utility room in the cellar with laundry facilities.
More independent accommodation is available on site for up to 8 people.
The house is part of the remains of an old hamlet situated right outside the chateau
walls. The chateau dates back to medieval times, but was largely taken apart for its stone
after the revolution at the end of the 18th century.
It is private and not open to the public, but we will be delighted to give you a tour of the chateau during your stay.
I have lived in south west France with my partner since 2000, and we bought the Chateau de Pervinquieres in 2007 as a little project to keep us busy at the weekend and during retirement. We renovated the two houses located beside the chateau ruins, one of which had been unoccupied for decades. They are both now available for holiday rentals either separately or together.

|Why this location?||Pervinquieres is within striking distance of many of the highlights of the Midi Pyrenees region with the départements of Lot, Tarn and Aveyron close at hand. Delightful villages, wonderful scenery and good local produce are all easily found in the area. But if you want to stay in, you can relax by the pool with the chateau as a backdrop.|
|Unique benefits of property||This is the ideal place for lovers of medieval architecture with the ruins of a 13th century chateau right alongside, and we will be happy to give you a guided tour during your stay. Pervinquieres is situated in beautiful countryside between Najac and St Antonin Noble Val, with delightful walks right from the door. And you are unlikely to be disturbed by the neighbours, the closest of which have four legs and woolly coats!|
Pretty medieval village with a market on Sunday morning (in summer)
Local town with a medieval centre and one of the biggest local produce markets every Thursday morning. Visit La Chartreuse too.
One of the 'Grands sites' of the Midi Pyrénéés: a medieval fortified village with its annual music festival in July plus many other events including a weekly market on Saturday mornings.
UNESCO world heritage site with its magnificent brick-built cathedral towering over the old centre with its boutiques and restaurants. There are regular antiques markets at Castelviel in the town centre.
A local abbey with temporary exhibitions and events. Pervinquiere was owned by the abbey for four hundred years.
Take the road south of St Antonin and don't miss the stunning corniche road. Stop off in the villages of Penne, Bruniquel and continue to Puycelsi and Castelnau de Montmiral if you have time.
Drive, cycle or walk up this wonderful little visited valley from Laguépie to Lagarde Viaur.
Very scenic with some picturesque villages such as St Cirq Lapopie.

I was delighted to find a property that I could rent for 4 nights. It was easily recognisable from the photos on the web site and was well equiped and clean with lots of nice touches. There was a useful amount of information to find our way around . We particularly appreciated the Wi Fi, and the English TV was nice for relaxing in front of after a hard days slog around the area. The owners were attentive but not overpowering and our stay was very enjoyable. This is a lovely part of France and we crammed in a lot of the sights but there are still plenty more to see. It is remote but we enjoyed watching the birds, we saw deer and red squirrel. The chateau gardens are divine and the roses were at their best when we stayed. Definately one to return to.
And we would be pleased to have you back!
Le gite du chateau de Pervinquiere is a special place in a very quiet situation. It has good access to medieval villages and Bastides as well as the Averyon river and gorge. The gite itself has all the facilities that you require for a homely stay, it is well maintained and very clean. The swimming pool is very large and gets full sun well into the evening.
Derek (the owner) is welcoming and very helpful. We particularly liked the informal tour of the ruined Chateaux that is across the courtyard.
Thanks for a great stay.
Thanks. It was a pleasure having you to stay!
