Spacious,Tranquil With Stunning Views, Private pool . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Cardenard is very tranquil, situated at the end of its own lane, with superb views over the valleys from its commanding position on the edge of the deep valley of the Baye. It is surrounded by farm land about 4 miles north of the unspoiled village of Verfeil-sur-Seye, which has an excellent cafe/restaurant and bakery and general store. Larger towns are within easy reach.

The house is our family’s second home, comfortably furnished and fully equipped, it accommodates at least twelve people in the main house, with the option of four more in a cottage within the grounds, .. There is a large salon with an imposing fireplace and a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen with a table seating twelve. There is a 12 x 6 metre swimming pool, a large sun terrace and a pergola, shaded with vines, and a barbecue. Within the stone walls which surround Cardenard there are barns, kitchen garden and vineyard/orchard. Facilities include table tennis and ample space for boules, badminton and other such games. There are spectacular walks all around, a tennis court in the village and many attractions in the area, including canoeing on the Aveyron. The historic sites of Albi, Najac, Cordes, Penne, Bruniquel, St Antonin-Noble-Val and many more are all under an hour’s drive.

The Cottage is ideal for grandparents or older teenagers or even an "au pair" wanting to be accommodated separately from the main party. It is not let separately but is available upon payment of an additional £250 per week. It has a living room with a galley kitchen on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms and bathroom with W.C. on the first floor..

Kitchen and dining

The farmhouse kitchen and dining area is on the lower ground floor. It is fully equipped with a range cooker, microwave, "American" fridge freezer and dishwasher as well as all usual cooking utensils.There is a larder which stays cool. The adjacent utility room has a washing machine and tumble drier and a further fridge. There is a further tumble drier in the shower room on this floor. The dining table seats 12 with ease and there is a full complement of crockery, cutlery and glasses. French windows lead up four stairs to the vine shaded pergola terrace with a further table seating 14 people. Under the pergola is a barbecue and all necessary tools are available. There is also a terrace shaded by a walnut tree in the corner of the grass "court" with a further table seating 14 people, which is idyllic for breakfast or other meals.

The cottage has a galley kitchen which is equipped with a fridge, small range cooker, dish washer and washing machine with a table seating 4

Living rooms

The large salon has three sofas and armchairs with a large wood burning stove.There is a dvd player and, in the dresser, there is a large selection of games and pastimes. There are french windows opening onto the balcony, from which stairs lead down to the terrace, pergola and swimming pool. There is a study with a large collection of audio and conventional books and dvds.

The downstairs comprises a living room, with a wood burning stove and a galley kitchen.

There four bedrooms on the upper floor -
Bedroom 1 with two single beds and built in wardrobe and cupboard.
Bedroom 2 with one double bed, wash hand basin, built in wardrobe and cupboard, and spectacular views overlooking the swimming pool and the valleys.
Bedroom 3 with two single beds wardrobe and wash hand basin.
Bedroom 4, in the eaves, ideal as a children’s dormitory, three single beds, a double bed and a cot, which can be installed in any of the other bedrooms – a push chair and a high chair are also available.
On the upper ground floor -
Bedroom 5 with king-size double bed, wardrobe and wash hand basin.

The cottage:
has two bedrooms - 1 has a double bed and a wardrobe; 2 has a double and a single bed and a wardrobe.

There is a large garden and a a selection of outdoor games. There is a table tennis table in one of the open fronted barns.

Parking and garages

There is a double open fronted garage and open fronted barns for parking under cover and plenty of hard standing for vehicles in the open air.

Visitor suitability

Babies and toddlers are well catered for.- with cots and a high chair and other aids (e.g. potties !) supplied.

The Cardenard Restaurant Book lists restaurants in the area - ranging from the fine dining to the family run.

The cottage is not let separately but is available upon payment of an additional £250 per week.

Since we bought the house we have had happy holidays with family and friends every year and several times a year at Cardenard. Now that we are semi-retired we are able to spend longer there.

Why this location? The house is secluded and tranquil yet not too far from the essentials of life - a bakery, general store and cafe/restaurant within a ten minute drive in the nearby village of Verfeil s/Seye. Bigger towns and historic sites are easily accessible.
Unique benefits of property The swimming pool and terraces enjoy magnificent views over the deep valley of the Baye towards the valley of the Aveyron in clear sight.
The main house has five bedrooms and the little house has two. We do not let the little house separately so that it is available for grandparents, older teenagers or even an "au pair", wanting to be separate from time to time from the main party.
