Mas Coumbel has a fabulous private salt pool, roomy and well-equipped accommodation in a stone farmhouse dating back to 1844 which has been fully renovated to create a comfortable, airy home. With room to sleep 8-10 during high season, we can close off part of the house in spring or autumn so please ask if you are a smaller group.
The outside space - the pool, large gardens, summer kitchen, dining terraces, outside bathroom, meadow walk, shaded corners - offers something for everyone. The 12m x 6m private pool (open from late May until late September, weather dependent) is wonderful. There is a house bike, table tennis, badminton or boules, a hammock, plenty of shade to read or sunny spaces if you prefer.
Inside, there are en-suites to two large master bedrooms, another large room with a double bed, two singles and a huge comfy sofa, and a fourth bedroom with air conditioning, a double (or single) bed and another single. There is also a good quality cot in one of the master bedrooms.
The family bathroom has a wc, bath and shower, the others have wc and shower. There is also an outside shower and wc too, ideal for summer living.
Internet access is good (averaging 10 mbps download speeds), as is mobile phone coverage. We have English and French TV and a stereo with Airplay/iPod connection.
We're a short drive to the unspoiled medieval town of Caylus with its twice weekly market, excellent artisan pizza restaurant, bars, small supermarket and leisure lake. Fine dining close by too in Puylaroque and St Antonin de Noble Val (the films Charlotte Grey and The Hundred Foot Journey were filmed there). Caussade, famous for its straw hat production, is a bustling town about 20 minutes away by car and the charming Villefranche de Rouergue is about 35 mins away. Visit the exciting Gorges de L'Aveyron (great for kayaking), and the wine regions of Cahors and Gaillac. Local markets abound to buy fresh local produce and cook it on our large charcoal barbecue, and look out for festivals which go on all summer long.
A fully equipped tiled floor kitchen with gas hob and electric oven, microwave, large fridge and dishwasher opens out onto a dining terrace with a teak table and chairs. A covered terrace closer to the pool offers a lovely place for shaded lunches.
Inside, there's a kitchen table and benches (brocante find!) and another large dining table with chairs in the salon.
Two kettle barbecues also available for outside cooking.
Washing machine and tumble dryer in separate utility accessed from outside.
A large and attractive salon, with comfortable sofas and chairs, a tv, music system and internet connection, opens out through French doors onto the dining terrace.
Two beautiful and spacious master en suites, another large tiled floored room with a sofa, a double and two single beds, a great family bathroom above which is a further air conditioned dual aspect room that can sleep up to three.

So much space! The 12m x 6m salt pool is heavenly (1.5m constant depth) reaching an average temp of around 28C in summer thanks to its solar cover.
We have a huge garden with different areas and a delightful meadow walk. There are plenty of outside dining opportunities with shaded terraces, two barbecues and lots of seating.
We have equipped the garden with plenty of loungers, outside dining tables and chairs, a huge canvas sail (easy to put up!) that children love to play under.
Park under a tree in our field next to the road, or outside the house where there is plenty of space too.
Not suitable for wheelchair use as there are stairs to all bedrooms.
A separate barn houses a table tennis table, and a summer kitchen (which includes a fridge freezer, sink and cupboard space) and leads on to the delightful covered dining terrace.
There is also a separate utility with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink.
We holidayed in the Midi-Pyrenees for 20 years before buying in 2013. Having picked up ideas of what we loved/ didn't love about holiday lets, we had a strong wish list. Large pool, great gardens, spacious rooms (no stiflingly low bedroom ceilings) and a covered terrace for outside dining. We found it all in Mas Coumbel. We spend a lot of time here so it's very much a family home too. Things work, there's internet, comfy beds, good bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, all you need really!

|Why this location?||We fell in love with the Tarn-et-Garonne not just because of the weather, the unspoilt medieval villages, towns and cities, stunning scenery and wonderful rivers but also because it still maintains a very French way of life. It balances the trick of offering a lot for holidaymakers without being given entirely over to tourism - and it's a welcoming and friendly area too. Close to famously celebrated towns like Najac where the fort is a must-see and St Antonin de Noble Val (many films are shot here), we are near enough to Caylus to persuade someone to nip in and secure breakfast pastries (a rota system is only fair!). Larger towns and cities like Cahors and Montauban, and even Albi and Toulouse, are within easy reach so there really is something for everyone. The Gorges D'Aveyron offer kayaking and white water rafting for the more active, but if it's a Michelin starred restaurant with an outside terrace from which to watch the sun go down, there is that too. All round marvellous.|

St Antonin de Noble Val is a village not to be missed - it has history, watersports, gastronomy and a great market!
Najac, a stunning hilltop village, is dominated by a partly ruined chateau open to the public
Villefranche-de-Rouergue is a pretty riverside town with a huge Thursday market
Don't forget Caylus, our small but historic local town with its famous church sculpture and petrified waterfall.
