Meadowtops cottage is a beautiful 3 bedroom self catering holiday French gite, comfortably sleeping up to 6 people situated in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. Tucked away on a sunny south facing valley in 22 acres of meadow and woodland. This charming French gite has its own hot tub and access to a beautiful swimming pool. The cottage is a converted barn with mountain views from nearly all the windows, the cottage is designed and renovated to provide maximum comfort and practical living while at the same time making the most of this magical location.

Peaceful surroundings, starry night skies, lush green meadows, beautiful wooded valleys and the most spectacular and ever changing views of the Pyrenees Mountains. Situated in a lovely secluded spot you will find Toubies and Meadowtops cottage, offering the chance to truly unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Toubies consists of a Farmhouse, Meadowtops cottage and 2 safari tents all with pools, hot tubs and panoramic mountain views.

Meadowtops heated pool is shared with Garry and Debbie who look after the site, and who use the pool on occasions and are sensitive to the needs of the guests.

When you arrive at Toubies, follow the sign down the narrow lane to the cottage where there is ample parking directly outside the cottage. You will be met by Garry and Debbie who will show you around the cottage and pool and help you to settle in; they will then leave you to enjoy Meadowtops and the traditional Midi Pyrenees relaxed way of life.

Kitchen and dining

The pretty verandah leads through frenchdoors into a good sized open-plan living area. There is a large cottage style dining table and chairs ideal for family meals. There is a blue tooth radio for listening to your favorite music while eating or cooking in the open plan well equipped kitchen, with its large range cooker ideal for your cassoulet and dauphinoise potatoes – “yum!”

Living rooms

The dining area and kitchen lead into the sitting area with 2 sofas around a large antique coffee table all next to the wood burning stove, great for cosy nights with friends and family. There is a flat screen television with UK digital channels and free wi-fi should you want to connect to the outside world.

To the side there is a large utility room with shelves to store your local wine, bubbly and beer finds, a good washing machine, and a door that leads into the large shower room/downstairs toilet.

Bedrooms

Head up the stairs and you will find 3 large cosy double bedrooms, 2 with big double beds and one with 2 single beds all with a cottage feel to them. Large windows look out onto the meadow, the valleys, woodlands and mountains. Art work on the walls is inspired by the view and meadow scenes. The beds all have soft crisp cotton bedding to snuggle up into at night with extra blankets in the wardrobes if needed.

Bathrooms

There is a downstairs shower room/toilet and an upstairs bathroom in case you fancy relaxing in a warm bath after a busy day exploring.

Heating

The cottage is very well insulated keeping it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. water is heated by an electric immersion heater, if it does get chilly then there is a logburner which heats the water and radiators.

Entertainment

There is free wi-fi, a bluetooth radio and a flat screen television with uk channels .

Garden and outside

Outside there is a secure good sized garden where you know your children and/or dogs will be able to play happily and safely. There is a large tiled verandah with table and chairs for up to 6 people. A great place to sit, eat and chat about your day’s adventures. If you're awake early enough you may catch sight of the deer in the meadow as you relax with a morning coffee. Take time in the evening to sit and relax with a bottle of wine and take in the views or the endless starry night sky.

Visitor suitability

We are situated on a valley side and we are therefore not suitable for people with mobility restrictions. We are also in a secluded rural location therefore a car is essential.

Information about any additional facilities

Head out of the house through the frenchdoors and into the garden. To the left of the house over looking the valley and Pyrenees mountains there is a 6 person hot tub, if you head through the garden and through the garden gate then take the short path up the hill and behind the cottage to a gate leading into the magical pool garden. The pool garden is tucked into a sheltered spot on the hillside and enclosed on three sides by trees, shrubs and lavender, with a large single depth pool. Make sure to (if your children let you) take a minute to take in the view.

We are a British family Garreth and Claire have owned Meadowtops since 2014, they live and work in the West Midlands but try to visit as much as we can.<br/>​<br/>As a family we have enjoyed exploring the area and have particularly fond memories of swimming in the St Croix lake (10 mins drive) learning to ski at Guzet (1 hr from Meadowtops) where they return most years, trying out the thermal spa's (Balnea in the Louron Valley for example) and spending time sampling the fabulous local food.

Why this location? We are a British family who first visited this region in 2001 and who fell in love with the area, its location, its wild untouched feel, its stunning scenery, way of life, friendly people and of course, the weather.
