Local area
We love the peace and tranquillity of the area and really enjoy the slower pace of life when we are able to take a holiday from work and come out to visit.
Whilst this is a rural area and a car is essential to get around, there are lots of amenities and activities within easy driving distance. Our closest village is St Croix Volvestre, which is about 5-10 minutes drive. In Cazeres (approximately 20 minutes drive), there are restaurants, cafes, local shops, Post Office and supermarket with petrol station. Our nearest airport is Toulouse Blagnac, which is approximately one hour drive from the house. and Carcassonne Airport 1hr 40mins Drive.

Had a wonderful week. In a wonderful setting with marvellous views of snow capped mountains in the distance.

Gite was extremely comfortable for two - kitchen really well equipped - masses of hot water. Never got too hot inside the building even on very hot days.

Lovely swimming pool and hot tub on veranda - (tiny criticism - the balustrade around the area of the hot tub is at a height which does not allow a view of the mountains whilst sitting in the tub).

There are two glamping tents in the meadow below the gite - not visible from the gite - whether there would be noise pollution if these were occupied I cannot say.

We took our dog - secure in the garden. Within the Pyrenees themselves in summer season, dogs have to be on a lead - bit restricting.

Nice garden but a bit unkempt - grass and hedge could have done with a bit of a trim.

However I would recommend highly - above criticisms are very minor quibbles.

Owner response

Thank you very much James for your great Review.

We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Meadowtops, the raised terrace for the hottub is new this year and as it is raised we had to fit a balustrade around for safety. However we will look at what we can do to minimize any restrictions it causes to the views.
