Semi retired. Governor at University of West London. Worked in travel all my working life. Friends of ours showed us this area and we acquired a lovely mill house in 2003. In 2010 we moved to this property which was a few kilometres up the road .

|Why this location?||Quiet rural location but with a lot within easy driving distance. Boulangerie is 3 km down the road but our preferred one is in L'Isle En Dodon which is about 10km's away. Toulouse is an hours easy drive away. The Pyrennees are about an hour and a quarter away and offer mountain biking, water rafting, walking and eating in some lovely Spanish restaurants . Nearby Gorge de La Save is a 20 minute drive away .
Friends and guests who have stayed with us in the past remarked that although there is a lot within reach they just preferred to sit in the shade and completely relax !
|Unique benefits of property||A recently converted traditional farmhouse in rural south-west France set in parkland grounds with a large heated swimming pool.
The property has 3 large kingsize bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and two twin rooms which share a large bathroom. The kitchen is well appointed with a modern range cooker, large fridge/freezer and all the modern appliances. The kitchen is based around an island unit with breakfast bar seating. There is a separate utility room with an additional fridge/freezer as well as a downstairs toilet.
The farmhouse has a large comfortable open plan living area with french doors on to the terrace. The TV has Freesat UK as well as Sky sports. The property also includes wifi and a portable speaker that can be used inside and out.
The property is set on the edge of the hill with good views. The property lies in about a hectare and there are plenty of shaded seating areas in the grounds.
The alarmed pool is within view of the terrace so easy to supervise kids!
1. Canard Gourmand Samatan. Fixed price menu but lovely cooking and friendly but quirky owners Xavier and Nicolas bring their unique style to the place and the food.
2. Restaurant Er Occitan, Bossost, Pyrenees, Spain. About and hour and a quarter drive away. We were recommended this restaurant by Laurie who looks after our pool. delightful food and wine. One of the best restaurants we've eaten in. Looks very ordinary from the outside but do not be put off. Nice and relaxed and the lady who looks after the wine is excellent and certainly knows her stuff. And the beauty is it is all very reasonably priced .
If there was only one market you could visit on your stay it should be this one . Held every monday. It is very French and busy. We go there for our breakfast and then shopping. Love to take our grandchildren there so they can see all the animals .
Great city. Called the Pink City. Well worth a day out . Not worth going through all the attractions of a large city. We'd recommend you park at Blagnac ( Toulouse Airport ) and then get the tram into the centre. Saves all the messing about parking. One attraction for plane lovers is a tour of the Airbus factory which can all be booked online .
A nice day out . La Mongie is a resort in the Pyrenees .It is the base from which the cable car takes you to the top of the Pic du Midi . You can have a good lunch at the top ( but make sure you book ahead ) . Great views etc . It is also near the Col Du Tourmalet which I believe is the highest climb that the cyclists do on the Tour de France . Friends got up early one morning and did the climb and then freewheeled all the way back . Exhausting !
Interesting Spa town in the Pyrenees. Can be combined with a visit to the restaurant Er Occitan in Bossost. it's a nice drive over the mountain from Bossost to Bagnerres du Luchon .
You can take your mountain bike up in the bubble car and then cycle down the various routes back down. Great experience. Bikes can be hired there.
