Hilltop Haven was once the home of an independant wine producer. Positioned in an enviable location high on the rolling hills of the Tarn with a breathtaking panoramic view which on clear days includes the whole of the Pyrenean Mountain Range.
The farmhouse is built from local stone with a traditional pan tile roof and inside the rooms have terracota floors and wooden ceilings made from oak, chestnut, walnut and poplar. In recent times it has undergone a complete renovation with great care to keep the original character but with all modern comforts added.
The kitchen and bathroom are of a particularly high standard. There are 4 bedrooms one of which is downstairs - ideal for older parents or children. The main bedroom benefits from its own shower. There is a separate downstairs toilet and wash basin.
The kitchen/dining room is 30 m2 and is very well equipped and there is a living room with the original fireplace and a logburner to keep you warm in the cooler months.
The property exudes the character, charm and warmth of welcome of this area and from the moment you step in you will feel relaxed and at home.
Our guests always report a sound sleep! Outside, the property benefits from a large on-surface swimming pool (approx 8x4 metres) with garden and deck chairs and with an undercover area where you can dine or rest out of the sun.

We truly enjoyed our September holiday at Hilltop Haven. The house is very comfortable, clean and well-equipped, and there is a pleasant sheltered area with tables, chairs and recliners to use outside too.
The scenery all around is beautiful, with pretty houses set among undulating hills, distant towns and villages, and views along the length of the Pyrenees and Black Mountains. It was very enjoyable to just relax outside the house and enjoy the views from the comfortable recliners provided on some days. It was good to end such days with a glass of local Gaillac wine and admire the magnificent sunsets. This landscape is also a wonderful setting for the swimming pool! We enjoyed bird-watching from the gazebo and along the nearby lanes – we saw spotted flycatchers, woodpeckers, barn owl and many other birds of prey.
There are many interesting places to visit nearby – Albi was a definite favourite, and we also enjoyed Cordes sur Ciel, Puycelsi, Bruniquel, Lavaur, Lisle-sur-Tarn; we were able to make a day trip to Carcasonne too.
Many thanks to Angela and Simon for being such welcoming and helpful hosts. We appreciated all the helpful information given to us about the area and enjoyed our many conversations together. Highly recommended.
Dear Brenda and Graham
Thank you so much for a wonderful review. We too enjoyed our many chats over a cup of tea and the occasional glass of wine! It was a real pleasure having you both here and we hope to see you again soon. All the best to you both Angela and Simon
We had a wonderful week at Hilltop Haven, it was a slice of heaven atop a picturesque hill with views across the fields stretching from nearby to Puybegon and Graulhet, to hills rolling further south across the Tarn.
Simon and Angela have created a welcoming home that offered modern amenities, well-chosen decoration and plenty of space to our family of four (two adults our two young daughters). We easily shared the four bedrooms, new bathroom and kitchen, living areas and spacious, sheltered outside area for mealtimes. It can sleep seven or eight in the bedrooms (three double beds upstairs and a single/twin downstairs) and there is enough space outside, including a walk up to the hilltop gazebo, for seven or eight guests.
Our daughters enjoyed playing in the garden with its plants and flowers and swingset, and we all enjoyed swimming in the raised pool (helpful as the kids couldn't tumble into it). We had good weather the whole stay so enjoyed days in the pool, local walks and drives to nearby towns.
We could pop to Briatexte for bread and supplies and shopped in Graulhet to stock up. We enjoyed some great local produce and cooked tasty meals, eaten on the outside table under the sloping roof of the barn.
SImon and Angela were lovely, welcoming hosts and we loved every minute of our stay. We'd recommend Hilltop Haven to anyone who wants to get away from it all and enjoy a bit a calm and serentiy in beautiful surroundings.

Hi there everyone
We named our property Hilltop Haven as we thought that was exactly what it is - a haven away from all the worries of a modern busy life and to give families a place to relax together and a chance to 'recharge'. We are therefore so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we thank you so much for taking the time to write a lovely review. We hope to welcome you again in the not too distant future. All the best, Angela and Simon
We had a really relaxing time in this rural idyll - Angela and Simon were great hosts, always on hand to check that everything was working and going well, happy to chat, and also to leave us to our own devices. (And coped with our noisy kids!)
The house has been beautifully restored, and worked very well practically - we were two families with two children each.
The real highlights for me were
the view from the beautiful gazebo - perfect with a glass of Gaillac wine
lovely walks - the children picked blackberries, plums and figs from the hedgerows
the serenity! - the house is very rural and quiet, lovely to watch birds of prey and other wild life against the amazing views!
lovely to hear from you and thank you for a great review. Glad you enjoyed and indeed appreciated our lovely home. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful place and to share it with lovely people like yourselves. Thanks again and hope we will see you again in the not too distant future. Best wishes, Angela and Simon
We spent a great week at Hilltop Haven. The hosts, Angela and Simon, were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. They gave us good advice about places to go and were on hand when we needed them. The gite has been beautifully converted into a spacious house to stay in and we particularly enjoyed the pool, table-tennis table and covered outside space with tables and chairs for dining and relaxing. The view from the house is fantastic! We would recommend a visit to the chateau at Saurs for wine-tasting, the interesting city of Albi and the many pretty hill-top villages such as Cordes-sur-Ciel, Najac and Puycelci.
Thank you for the lovely review. I am glad you you enjoyed your stay and visiting the local sites; It was great having you all here. All the very best Angela and Simon
