|For 2 - A Country Cottage with Panoramic Views||Self Catering||Flexible||1||2||1|
Perfect for couples this spacious holiday cottage for 2 sits in the beautiful rolling Tarn countryside yet is only 10 minutes from the treasure that is the city of Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and only 45 minutes from Toulouse.
Forming part of what used to be a farm the gite, the only one on the property, is set high above a wide valley offering you a panoramic view over an idyllic French pastoral landscape of farms, vineyards and villages.
In an ideal location for a cycling holiday the area surrounding the gite offers cyclists routes that meander through some of the most delightful countryside to be found anywhere in France. It is therefore no surprise that the Tour de France visits the Tarn so frequently - in fact Le Tour will be in Albi again this year (2019) this time for 3 days.
We provide cyclist friendly accommodation including lockable bicycle storage, a large covered work area for undertaking repairs & maintenance, cleaning equipment, local maps, and information pertinent to cycling in the area.

There are many well signed veloroutes within easy reach - the nearest being 1km away. Ranging from the gentle to the challenging these routes will take you variously through vineyards and fields of sunflowers, past ancient fortified villages, along the winding Tarn river and the dramatic gorges of the Aveyron River. And even into the centre of the episcopal city of Albi. Lockable storage for bikes is provided.
There are 2 excellent courses within 12km - one 18 hole, the other 9 - and a further 9 courses that are less than an hours drive from gite.
From May through September take a riverboat cruise on the River Tarn in a traditional gabarre. Advance booking is recommended - contact Albi Croisières via their website
You will be spoilt for choice as the gite sits in the Gaillac AOC region - an area which is now producing wines of truly exceptional quality. We will be happy to give you advice as to which vineyards you might like to visit. Do also visit, and indeed sample, the excellent single cask malt whiskies made in the traditional manner by the nearby Castan distillery
This is a superb location from which to explore Albi and the surrounding area by bike. Tim and Anne are wonderful hosts and the gite somehow managed to remain cool during a record French heatwave using only natural "air-conditioning". The views are fantastic, there's everything you need in the gite to self-cater yet there are plenty of restaurants in surrounding towns and villages. The gite is extremely comfortable and very well equipped.
The cycling is superb, flat loops or hills, whatever you like - make up your own routes or follow any of 20 or so clearly marked routes ranging from the very easy to the rather lengthy, full details of which are available from the gite's impressive array of tourist guides.
An absolutely first class week at a place I can thoroughly recommend. Will definitely be back!
This was a perfect cottage for two with very welcoming and helpful hosts. Everything you need is there. The views are stunning. The surrounding area is very interesting
