|Le Cerisier||Self Catering||Flexible||1||2||1||Double sofabed possible for 2 people|
Well-appointed holiday accommodation ideal for couples who wish to spend a week or two in peace and tranquility in the heart of French countryside without being too isolated.
Le Cerisier is approximately 40m² with a mezzanine bedroom and downstairs bathroom which started its origins as an open barn/hangar housing farm carts and wine barrels.
In 2006 we completed the renovation and transformation works and we received our first guests.
The gîte comprises an open kitchen/dining and living area.
The living area has a 2-seater settee/sofabed, a rocker chair, reading lamp, television and storage units.
There is a selection of reading books both in English and French and a wealth of tourist information leaflets.
The spacious galleried mezzanine bedroom is equipped with a kingsize bed with an orthopaedic mattress, 2 bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a small hanging wardrobe. In winter, the bed has a thick feather quilt and in summer a sheet and bedspread is sufficient.
A mobile air conditioning unit is situated in the bedroom for those hot evenings.
The bathroom is situated on the ground floor and comprises an enclosed shower unit, toilet and a washbasin unit complete with drawers and cupboards.
The gîte is heated by electric radiators and a towel radiator in the bathroom.
For comfort in the summer months, a mobile air conditioning unit is situated in the bedroom.
The gîte is equipped with French television/dvd player and a stereo radio/cd player with bluetooth connectivity.
A wi-fi connection is available both inside the gîte and in the garden.
The gîte overlooks the beautiful undulating countryside and the lounge area leads directly on to a private terrace, with a table, parasol, chairs, relaxer chairs and a gas barbecue.
Our guests have complete and direct access to the spacious garden and the10 x 5m swimming pool which is available at all times but it is also used by the owners.
There are ample sun-loungers and parasols around the pool area and in the pool house there is an additional fridge to store those 'around the pool refreshments'.
During the day, why not relax in the hammock strung between 2 walnut trees or for the more energetic, our outdoor table-tennis table is always available.
Early evening the wooden terrace is the ideal place to watch the sunset.
There is a private carpark immediately in front of the gîte and there is also parking space available on the village square opposite.
Due to the nature of the wooden stairs to access the bedroom, our gîte is not suitable for physically infirm visitors.
We are both in our 50's and have lived here since December 2003 with our 2 sons who have more or less flown the nest, our cat and our dog. I, Caroline, teach English to a variety of people and Peter spends his time looking after swimming pools and generally doing as much DIY as I can get him to do! We live here permanently so we are always on hand to give advice and have a friendly chat but try to remain discreet at all times.

|Why this location?||Our gite is adjacent to our house and shares the same magnificent uninterrupted view of the garden and undulating countryside. We are in the centre of the very peaceful village of Aussac so whilst having the benefit of being in the countryside there is not the feeling of isolation. The beautiful UNESCO world heritage town of Albi is a mere 15km away and 15km in the opposite direction takes you to the wine route of the Gaillac vineyards. The typical 'bastide' towns of the region are just a short drive away and for those who wish to venture to the sea or the Pyrenees, both can be reached within 2.5 hours. The 'Pink City' of Toulouse is easily accessible in just 45 minutes.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our gite was originally a hangar and we tastefully renovated and transformed it into 40m² of holiday accommodation with a mezzanine bedroom, open plan kitchen and lounge, private patio with gas barbecue and private parking. It is comfortably furnished and fully equipped with everything necessary for an enjoyable stay. Our guests are totally independent and have free use of the large swimming pool and other garden facilities.|
A walk or tourist train ride around Albi town centre, not forgetting the Toulouse Lautrec museum and the breathtaking Ste Cécile Cathedral (said to be the largest brick built building in the world).
A visit to Cordes, a 13th century town perched on high is a must.
A walk in the Lacaune mountains or the Sivens or Grésigne forests.
Delicious freshly cooked meals at the beautiful La Table du Sommelier restaurant or the cosy Le Lautrec restaurant, both in Albi.
The atmospheric market of Réalmont on Wednesday mornings, Gaillac on Friday mornings or Albi on Saturdays.
Or just simply driving through the Gaillac vineyards and doing a spot of winetasting.
The Fête de la Musique on June 21st to be enjoyed all around the region.
Early July every year, Albi hosts the fabulous music festival 'La Pause Guitare' where you can see French and international musicians in concert.
