About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Helen Langworthy

We recently bought this property as a holiday home and fell in love with the area and the barn as soon as we visited. We had been looking for 3 years and we put in an offer the day we viewed!<br/>It is a beautiful, peaceful spot with gorgeous views and we always feel so relaxed when we stay here. There is plenty going on in the surrounding area, including beautiful bastide villages, vineyards to taste the local wine, good restaurants and some great outdoor markets which we are enjoying exploring.

Year property purchased 2019
Why this location? It is a beautiful region with rolling countryside (it often reminds us of Tuscany), forests, vineyards and ancient bastide villages.

Catusse is in a peaceful rural location but within easy reach of tourist sites, shops and restaurants. The local area isn't too busy or over-run in the summer so we think it is the perfect balance between having plenty to do but also being able to relax and switch off..

The gite is 45 minutes from Toulouse Airport or a straightforward drive from the ferry ports.
Unique benefits of property An old barn, lovingly restored by the previous owners, our gite is in a rural setting in a small hamlet, 1km from the village of Le Verdier which has a restaurant (Chez Anne).
The village of Castelnau de Montmiral is 5km away and has two restaurants in the beautiful, old square, a pizza take-away, pharmacy and a village shop which sells fresh bread and local produce.

Forming a self-contained wing of the property, the sunny gite has sole use of the secluded swimming pool and its own terrace and barbeque area. It is ideally suited for both couples and families as it is in a peaceful location but within easy reach of many activities for both children and adults.

The Local Area

There are many local markets in the surrounding villages, including Castelnau on Tuesday and Saint Antonin on Sunday. As well as buying delicious local produce we also enjoy sitting at a café, soaking up the unique market-day atmosphere.

During the summer many villages have concerts and fetes which are always great fun. Several of the local vineyards host apero concerts in the early evening with food, wine and live music.

We are in the middle of the Gaillac wine region - the gite is surrounded by vines - and there are over 20 vineyards where you can taste their wines and perhaps take home a few bottles!

For those looking for an active holiday, the Vere Gresigne leisure lake (5 km away) has a beach, pedaloes, swimming (with waterslide and lifeguard), tennis courts, boules and ice-cream parlour. There is also kayaking though the Averyon Gorges, horse-riding and plenty of great walking and cycling routes nearby.

Catusse is within 30 minutes drive of five ancient bastide villages including Puycelsi, Bruniquel and Cordes sur Ciel - which is a World Heritage site and has stunning views across to the Pyrenees.

Gaillac is 15 minutes drive from the Gite. It has several large supermarkets, restaurants, cinema and a lively market on Fridays. The cultural centre of Albi is only 30 minutes drive and has the Toulouse Lautrec museum, a magnificent Cathedral and numerous restaurants and boutiques. Toulouse, which is a 45 minute drive, has many attractions including the Cite de l'Espace science and space exploration museum.
