On the southern tip of Cantal overlooking the Lot Valley, Le Cantou sleeps 4 and offers quality accommodation, peace and solitude all year round.
Bought as ruins, Le Cantou is one of 2 cottages that have been skillfully and beautifully renovated to retain original features including exposed walls, beams and a Cantou fireplace. The thick stone walls and traditional lauze roof ensure cool interiors in the summer and warmth in the winter.
The living area is comfortably furnished, bright and airy with stunning views from south facing windows.
A wood burning stove in the Cantou fireplace and radiators make this cottage ideal for a winter break. Logs are provided as are books, cds and dvds for those idle moments! Wi-fi is also available.
The fitted oak kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.
The upstairs bedroom in the cottage has exposed beams, a vaulted ceiling, king-sized bed, and en suite bathroom with corner bath, wc and hand basin.
The bedroom on the lower ground floor has twin beds and a large en suite shower room with walk-in shower, wc and hand basin.
Outside, the cottage has a south facing terrace and a larger, shadier terrace for those very hot days. BBQ, sunloungers, tables and chairs complete your summer eating experience.
For larger parties our 2 cottages, situated next door to each other are ideal. Although 2 completely independent properties, Le Cantou and La Maison du Four are ideal booked together for a larger family or group of up to 8.
This little known part of the Lot Valley is stunning all year round, its slopes clad in cherry, oak and chestnut and the Lot River meandering through beautiful towns and villages.
The riverside village of Vieillevie, 2 minutes from our cottages, has a chateau, 2 restaurants and a shop which supplies all daily requirements.
Where the Lot meets the Truyere there is the small, medieval town of Entraygues-sur-Truyere which is a must to visit and which has a weekly market in its leafy square.
The world renowned site of Conques, on the route to St Jacques de Compostella is nearby and there are many of the ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’ to explore.

The River Lot is famous for canoeing and fishing. Canoes and kayaks may be hired nearby and afford a unique view of this stunning valley.
There is a horse riding centre nearby and 2 golf courses within 40 mins drive.
It is an ideal area for those seeking tranquillity but close to vibrant towns such as Aurillac with its international street festival in August, Figeac with its connections to Champollion and Rodez with its medieval Cathedral and streets.
Throughout the summer months there are festivals, fetes, brocantes or markets somewhere in the vicinity.

The kitchen is furnished to the highest standard with traditional oak kitchen units, fridge, hob, oven, dishwasher and washing machine. A breakfast bar separates this area from the comfortably furnished lounge/dining area which also has a beautiful Cantou fireplace with a wood burning stove.

Fabulous views, tranquillity, close to river for swimming and canoeing, excellent walks.
The River Lot is ideal for canoeing and kayaking and there are two starting points within 20 minutes of the cottages.
Conques is a truly beautiful, medieval village on the route to St Jacques de Compostelle.
La Terrasse in the local village of Vieillevie (2 mins). This superb restaurant offers an extensive menu on the wisteria covered terrace. There are many other excellent restaurants nearby.
There are many marked footpaths either from the cottages or within a short driving distance. Each walk affords wonderful views of this beautiful area.
