|Unique benefits of property||Home from home. Very well equipped with lots of extras to keep everyone happy. There is indoor and outdoor play equipment for the children, an extensive (English and French) book and DVD library and a very well equipped kitchen. It's a much better equipped kitchen than your average French holiday home. There is lots of outside living space for you to enjoy the lovely views and warm sunshine. The view from the balcony is wonderful. The pool is big enough and deep enough for serious swimming or family fun. There is free and (reasonably fast) WIFI for those who can't survive without it and English & French Television channels. The house is spacious and homely. We have real leather sofas (not click clacks) and we guarantee you'll feel at home the moment you arrive, just as we do every time we come back. We'll give you a welcome pack of essentials to help you settle in quickly and as long as you leave the house in a clean and orderly fashion there is no additional cleaning charge.|
Between Rocamadour and Padirac, the Gramat Animal Park is a great day out for all the family. There are more than 40 acres of shady Causse in the heart of the Quercy National Park. There are over 150 different species of wild and domestic animals that you can watch at leisure. There are wide footpaths and a children's play area. The cafe offers refreshments and a good family lunch.
Beautiful medieval town on the river. There's a small chateau to explore, some wonderful walks and great cafes. There is a Michelin starred family owned restaurant (well worth a visit), but you need to book ahead. The night markets at Belcastel are really good fun.
Lovely city with famous fortress bridge - the Pont Valentre, one of the finest examples of Medieval defensive architecture in France.
Beautiful medieval village and a World Heritage Site and a lovely day out.
Handsome town on the banks of the Cele River. Lots of free activities in summer, great restaurants and bars, Champollian museum, bustling market on Saturday mornings. There are some great outdoor musical events (usually free) and lots of activities for the children throughout the summer and other school holidays. There is also a public lido and a boating lake on the outskirts of town.
Extraordinarily beautiful and impressive canyons.
Stunning underground caves near Rocamodour, includes an underground walking tour and boat trip.
Painted historic caves, beautiful because of its combination of art and natural beauty. There's a great educational display of ancient life as well as the fascinating cave tour.
From the boat club in the village. You can rent them for a couple of hours or go on an all day trip.
The jungle gymn is in a shady forest setting and offers activity and challenge for all ages. There is a small course for 'little people' and several graduated courses for people over 1m 30, both young and old. The staff are friendly and care about your safety. They speak English and French. You can easily spend a whole day here hanging out in the trees with the whole family. Take a picnic lunch as you will need to top up your energy. After day out here, everyone sleeps soundly!
There are night markets all over the area - Capdenac, Peyrus le roc, Belcastel, Figeac etc. You basically go and choose something delicious to eat from a range of stalls; starter, main course, dessert and wine or beer and you sit down in the middle of the village and eat to your heart (or your stomach)'s content. The atmosphere is great. The night markets are usually buzzing.
There are lots of wonderful walks in the area and best of all, you don't even have to get in the car. You can wander directly out of the garden gate and do a couple of circular walks which can take as long, or as little time as you like. Pack a picnic lunch and put on your walking shoes for a healthy family day out.
France's second most visited place of pilgrimage, beautiful place with lots of interesting things to see and do.
Interesting and pretty town with the biggest market in the Aveyron (Thursday mornings). There are some great restaurants here and lots of free activities in summer.
Medieval town with half-timbered houses, great restaurants, brocantes and Medieval festival in high summer.
Hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble - there was a lovely food parcel left for us on arrival and they gave lots of advice of places to visit in the local vicinity.
Locals were extremely friendly- the pub opposite does fantastic meals and we were staying when it was the village fete/carnival so lots of fun and frivolity. Shops were within walking distance which is nice as the children could get the croissants each morning. There is a busy road adjacent to the house - This really didn’t bother us and the benefit of the setting/ being close to amenities outweighed The closeness to the road.
The house is on two levels and we spent evenings sat looking out over the River Lot watching starlings perform their evening murmuration.
The pool was a great addition and many hours were spent here as temperatures were in excess on 35 throughout most of our stay. There was adequate shade to remain seated outside during peak times. This holiday was good value for money and I would recommend the villa to others.
