Most of the stone buildings of le Mas d’Arjac date from the early 18th century. The keystone of the Long House is dated 1738, and the buildings remained largely untouched until their recent and sympathetic restoration by local artisans who used only traditional methods and natural materials so that nothing has been lost of the beauty of the original buildings or of their character. The interiors retain all of their original beams and stone features. At the same time, we have added luxuries such as solid oak floors and terra cotta tiles which are in keeping with the age and style of the home but with the addition of under floor heating as well as modern insulation to keep the houses warm in winter and cool in summer.
Le Mas d'Arjac is composed of 3 gites:
The Long House, built in stone and comprising a salon with a large, open fireplace, a farmhouse kitchen/dining room, a bathroom with shower, lavabo and wc, and double bedroom and a bedroom with two double beds and one single on the first floor. The Yellow Room (accessed via a short flight of 6 steps from outside the kitchen door of the Long House) provides a further double (or twin) bedroom with en suite bathroom containing shower, lavabo and wc.
The Mas is the owner's home and is available in the high season only. It is a stylish and very comfortable affair with a large living room, kitchen/diner, bathroom, a double bedroom with a king size or twin beds, and a further bedroom with two double beds.
La Petite Maison provides a further double bedroom on a mezzanine with a single bed in the downstairs room. Guests in the Petite Maison use the bathroom facilities of the Long House or the Mas in high season.
Please note that, during the High Season period Saturday 30 June to Saturday 1 September 2018, the rental agreement is for all three of these houses in one booking and is therefore most suitable for two or three families or groups of friends travelling together. Outside High Season, the Long House of the Mas d'Arjac (sleeps 7-9) is available - please see separate advert.
The Mas d'Arjac is only ever rented to one party of guests at a time with exclusivity on the pool and its facilities.
There are two modern and well-equipped kitchens, one in the Mas and the other in the Long House. There is also a Weber bbq in the garden of the Long House. Meals can be taken in either kitchen, farmhouse style, or outdoors on the terrace of the Long House.
There are two comfortable living rooms, one in the Mas and theother in the Long House, with satellite tv (UK and French channels), dvd players and a library of dvds. There is ample outdoor seating.

Bedroom 1 Yellow Room - 1 extra large double bed - can be arranged as two singles.
Bedroom 2 - 1 extra large double bed - can be arranged as two singles.

In the Mas:

Note: The Yellow Room in the Long House has an en suite shower room and is accessed via a short flight of external stairs outside the kitchen door of the Long House.

All three houses have under floor central heating and thick stone walls which means that the buildings benefit from excellent insulation andy remain cool in summer, as well as retaining the heat in winter.
UK and French satellite tv, dvd players and a dvd/video library, board games, books.
The gardens of the Mas d'Arjac are extensive and beautifully maintained, and the meadows and woodland of the Arjac estate extend down the valley to the spring and stream.
Guests have exclusive use of the 16m x 4m swimming pool (constant depth of 1.6m) which is situated adjacent to the owner’s house, as well as the pool deck and furniture between 9h00 and 22h00 each day.

There is ample parking either outside the front entrance to the property or in the meadow just down the lane.
Due to the rocky terrain on which the hamlet has been constructed, Arjac is unfortunately not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
We provide excellent information, both pre-arrival and during the stay, so that our guests can make a quick start on their holiday planning.
We provide IGN maps of the area so that guests can enjoy the many gentle walks and longers rambles of this most beautiful area.
We also know local restaurants inside out and can help our guests with reservations at the best tables in the region!
Hi, my name is Simon Clark and I am the owner of Le Mas d'Arjac. I love this part of France and am completely passionate about Arjac and the surrounding area! After a long career in tour operating working for a couple of Britain's best known travel companies, I decided to retrain as a teacher and worked in one of the UK's most prestigious schools for the last 13 years as a teacher of French and Spanish. I have recently retired an am now devoted to looking after my guests at the Mas d'Arjac!

|Why this location?||The Mas d'Arjac is superbly situated at the head of a valley, surrounded by woodland and fields, and is very green and very peaceful. The collection of stone buildings which forms the Mas is exceptionally picturesque, and the gardens, terraces and pool area are ample and well maintained for the benefit of our guests. I bought the property to create a haven of relaxation and good-living, and also to run a small arts centre in my retirement based on the recently restored Atelier which is a beautiful recital room and rehearsal space in the grounds. |Unique benefits of property||I had visited 29 properties in SW France before setting foot in Arjac. It was love at first sight! Most of all I loved its setting, the beauty of the stone buildings and the extensive terraced gardens and pool. Since restoring the Long House and the barn (now the Atelier) the Mas is attracting guests who appreciate the tranquility and high standards of accommodation. They also like the discreet service which we are able to provide (when required) for ideas for visits, restaurants, local markets etc enabling our guests to settle in and start relaxing more quickly.|
Although we are in La France profonde, it is just 15 minutes by car to the ancient town of Villefranche de Rouergue. Villefranche is not only handy for its excellent shopping, restaurants, and renowned Thursday market, but also has a fascinating history as a bastide – a fortified mediaeval town with a fine, arcaded central square and an imposing collegiate church. As a market town serving a huge rural area, Villefranche provides all ones practical needs in a stunning setting.
There are no fewer than 10 of Les plus beaux villages de France within an hour’s drive of Arjac, as well as two Grands Sites de France, Conques and Albi. Easy half or full day outings can also be made to Saint Antonin Noble Val, Corde-sur-Ciel, Cahors, Figeac, Rocamadour, les Gouffres de Padirac, the Lot valley, St Cirque la Popie, Roquefort, the Viaduc de Millau, and the Gaillac wine region – all attractive and fascinating destinations.
