After careers in local government and the marketing and hospitality industries in London and the south east, we decided on a complete change of lifestyle and moved to France in early 2016. We now get to indulge our passions for food, wine and the outdoors whilst sharing our little bit of paradise with our guests.

|Why this location?||The Tarn Valley is breathtakingly beautiful and remains totally unspoilt with lots of things to see and do. We are located between the river and the Lacs de Levezou and surrounded by stunning countryside and pretty towns and villages. The only occasional traffic jams are caused by the brebis sheep on their way to milking! This is Roquefort country.|
|Unique benefits of property||The stunning view of the Tarn Valley and all the way south to the Monts Lacaune which has to be seen to be believed! The swimming pool and the gites' terraces all benefit from this view. It is a perfect spot to relax and recharge, but with river and lake swimming, kayaking, cycling, walking, riding and other outdoor activities nearby it's also ideal for a more active holiday.|
Just a few minutes drive from La Caze is Les Chemins de Traverse, a small and friendly locally run kayaking business which organises trips of either 7 or 14 kilometres on the beautiful Tarn. Setting off from the bridge below Broquies, you kayak (in single or double kayaks) through stunning scenery, negotiating mini rapids and, on the 14km trip, an exciting slide over the weir at Brousse le Chateau. You can take it at your own pace, stopping to picnic or swim en route, and are collected by Robert or one of his team at the finish point. A fantastic day out for all the family!
The beautiful lakes, 12 and 35 minutes respectively from La Caze, are perfect for swimming, a variety of water sports, boat trips or just relaxing on the many beaches. Lac de Villefranche de Panat also has a 10km walkway around it, great for running, walking and cycling.
Literally on the doorstep, including part of the stunning Tarn Valley with its pretty and historic villages, such as Broquies, Le Truel, Asseyne, St Rome de Tarn and Brousse le Chateau and Peyre, two of France's plus beaux villages. Take in the fabulous views whilst driving the whole route or pick one area and explore further.
The iconic Millau Viaduct striding across the Tarn Valley is an incredible sight. There are numerous viewpoints in the area which allow the viaduct to be viewed from both above and below. The visitors' centre by the viaduct is well worth a visit with great interactive features as well as providing an opportunity for a guided tour.
Bustling weekly markets held on Saturday and Friday packed with delicious local produce and crafts. Choose from wonderful fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, meat, charcuterie, oysters and mussels fresh from the Mediterranean coast, local honey, bread and patisserie, beer, wine, olives, etc.
Visit the caves where all the cheese is matured and taste some delicious Roquefort, the famous sheep's milk cheese made exclusively in the area. The milk from the farm next to La Caze goes to make Papillon, but there are lots of other producers in Roquefort, so lots of opportunities for tastings!
What summer evenings in the south of France should be! Eat and drink delicious locally produced food and wine under the stars in fabulous settings, whilst listening to music and maybe even trying a little traditional dancing. Weekly Night Markets are held in the shadow of the chateau at Coupiac in July and August. Other local Night Markets can be found at St Affrique and Villefranche de Panat.
From beautiful displays over the castle at Brousse le Chateau and the Abbey at Vabres, to the spectacular fireworks over the River Tarn at Le Truel, the skies around La Caze are filled with colour and light all summer.
Lovely gite, well equipped and spotless. Excellent pool, well maintained with superb view. Warm welcome from the owners who were very accessible. Useful information on places to visit, local markets and restaurants. The website photos accurately depicted the gite and pool.
Excellent lines of communication during booking and payments processes.
La Violette is one of the best gites we have stayed in and we would think about a return booking.
Thanks for your great review Peter! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in La Violette. And yes, that view IS amazing! We would love to welcome you back for another holiday in the future.
Really can't fault La Violette and La Caze Gites in any way. We stayed here for 2 weeks this August with our 12 and 10 yr old daughters. The gite was perfect for all of us and the English hosts were friendly and on hand to help with any queries. The girls and I loved the pool - which had THE most amazing view and was very clean and warm. My husband enjoyed the hills for his ultra marathon training! We all managed family bike rides in the area (once we had got our head round the hills) and also at the local lake which was flatter.
There is plenty to do in the area - we visited Roquefort, hired canoes down the Tarn and went on the local Velorail.
We will certainly return.
Thanks for your fantastic review Amelia and Andrew. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all. We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at La Caze Gites and were able to relax as well as get in the miles running and cycling and making the most of the local area. We would love to welcome you back for another holiday in the future.
A warm welcome will await you from your hosts with tips on what to do and where to go in the local area.A wonderful rural retreat that I would recommend as long as there is still room for me to book next time.
A lovely little Gite with all you will need.
Thanks for your great review Mick. We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at La Caze Gites and found all you needed. Our aim is to ensure our guests have a great holiday and are able to make the most of what the area has to offer. We would love to welcome you all back for another holiday!
This is a comfortable cottage which is supplied with everything one needs for a holiday, plus many thoughtful extras. All the windows have fly screens, a real bonus in a farming district! We loved the gardens and the trees, big walnuts laden with green nuts, and shady places to retreat to when it was too hot.The large swimming pool is clean and sparkly, affording beautiful views across the hills and fields; it makes time spent there very special. Our hosts were extremely helpful in supplying information on the picturesque towns and villages in the area with their markets shops and restaurants and giving us routes and directions. There are many historical sites worth visiting and we took a mini-break to Gaillac for wine tasting, then stayed overnight in Albi to explore the wonderful cathedral, the Toulouse Lautrec museum and the city. Jon, our host, is a chef and cooked us 2 delicious meals - what a treat - no worries about drinking and driving! We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.
Thanks for your lovely review Eric. We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at La Caze and found everything you needed in the gite and were also able to enjoy the surrounding area despite being here mid-heatwave! It was an absolute pleasure to host you both and we would love to welcome you back for another stay in the future.
