About this property

Converted Barn with Private Heated Pool. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

A stunning 300 year old granite barn converted over the last few years to provide modern quality accommodation with features in keeping with the building.
Outside provides landscaped gardens to sit or play, a large private heated pool to splash around in or improve your fitness. There are 2 bbq areas and all this with great views of the nearby St Sever forest. The rear decking is 10 metres long and has a fixed roof to provide protection from all types of weather, with an outside lounge and another dining table to eat "al fresco" or enjoy a drink as the sun goes down on this side of the house.
Once inside you will find quality furnishing and fittings throughout and plenty to keep everyone occupied, including a gamesroom with English full size slate pool table.

There are two medium sized bathrooms, both with showers, one with an additional bath. The washing machine lives at the far end of the house to avoid noise disturbance.



Kitchen and dining

Open plan kitchen with log burning stove, central dining table, dishwasher, American style fridge with ice maker, double Smeg electric oven with gas hob. French doors open out to covered decking with outside lounge, outside dining table, another bbq and sunny enclosed garden with views of the forest.

Living rooms

The large living room upstairs has a gallery overlooking the kitchen, with rustic stone chimney and original oak beams. Views are of the forest and large rear garden. Kitted out with comfy sofas, rugs, large tv with sky and all the music and movies on Apple tv, plus books and games.


Bedroom 1 - family room, downstairs with solid oak furniture, double bed and twin bunk

Bedroom 3 - first floor, double with hardwood furniture and garden views and next to the main bathroom.

Bedroom 4 - small twin, cabin style for children, with balcony over living room.


Bathroom 1 - first floor, off the living room with glass double shower, large bath, basin and toilet. With views of the forest.

Bathroom 2 - downstairs via gamesroom, double shower, basin and toilet.


Oil fired heating for radiators throughout, the water is heated separately using electric. There is a wood burning stove in the kitchen which will also heat the living room. All oil, electric and a quota of logs are included.


50" tv with Freesat and all the latest music and movies via Apple tv and free access to our Netflix account for even more entertainment.There are a number of books and games supplied and a separate games room with full size slate pool table. We also have high speed broadband via Wifi (15mbs approx)

Garden and outside

The barn sits on a 10 acre site with an enclosed garden off the kitchen with bbq, a covered decked area with outdoor sofas, large dining table and seating.

In a secure area adjacent sits a secluded 10m x 5m heated pool with tables chairs, canopies and loungers. We have improved access via a decked walkway from the rear of the house thru to the pool accessed by a glass safety gate.

Parking and garages

An oak framed open double garage offers protection for vehicles, the drive is 2 cars wide allowing further parking for a number of cars.

Visitor suitability

There is one step down into the main entrance taking you into the kitchen and 1 step up from the rear via the decking, so unfortunately this property would not be ideal for wheelchair access.

I live and work in Manchester but love to come out to France as often as i can, the house and gardens continue to be improved year on year, with extra features added to improve you holiday experience.

Why this location? My parents, Dawn and Kevin live just 100 yards away and run the holiday rental for me.

Around 30km north are numerous beaches used during the Normandy landings. There are many historical sites with visitor attractions to really get a feel for the massive undertaking the allies experienced during this pivotal time in our recent history.

The bedding including mattresses were of pure quality and some sheets were stained. There were no folder with complete instructions and or des cription of property and facilities e.g. doctor or hospital details ext.

Richard, firstly thanks for the feedback, we welcome comments to allow us to continually improve. I have spoken to my mum and she agrees there was a duvet cover that had a stain which despite washing, refused to come out, this has been replaced. Mattresses are a personal thing and what suits one person won't suit another, just one of the difficulties we have trying to appeal to everyone, two of the mattresses were replaced last year and whilst not the high end, you can pay hundreds for a mattress, they are not the cheapest either, but I will have a proper look at them in September. We have tried to put all our info on the website, that way you always have it with you, but yes the location of the hospital/doctor is a good idea and we will produce a factsheet for future guests. My parents live there permanently and go above and beyond to help people out and make sure they are completely happy to enjoy their holiday, this in comparison to remote owners is a bonus and allows any niggles to be corrected at the time. I believe your family had a great holiday and many people do return at some point in the future and I hope you are one of those people. We will take your comments seriously and are continuously adding new facilities and making improvements. All the best, Darren
