We stayed 7 nights at the Bergerie, our only regret was having to leave. Situated in rural Normandy where the only sounds you will hear is the birdsong & livestock in the neighbouring fields. There are 2 small towns a few minutes drive from the Bergerie with the obligatory Boulangerie & good Restaurants, etc.
The accommodation is very spacious. A tasteful large bedroom/suite with vaulted ceiling, dining table and very comfortable sofa. The shower/toilet situated downstairs is a good size clean and modern. Also downstairs is the cooking/dining area. The Dining area is open on one side providing lovely views of extensive grounds of the house. The Bergerie is in very good condition, clean with everything functioning and reflects the good taste of the owners.
Hetty & Ruud are superb hosts keen to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, happy to share tips on places to visit in the area . I would recommend the breakfast - lot of the ingredients are produced on the property.
We loved coming back to the peace & tranquility of the Bergerie after a days sightseeing. On a couple of occasions we preferred to spend the morning stretched out on the sunbeds reading our books and relaxing.
The Bergerie is very dog friendly, we bought our dog with us, she loved her walks around the grounds and the surrounding countryside.
We have no hesitation in recommending a stay at the Bergerie as a base when visiting Normandy. We will definitely be returning to the Bergerie.
Dear Christopher and Lucy
Thank you soo very much for this beautiful review.
We hope you did have a good journey back to England
and hope that your returning is a promise.
Hugs for Rose.
I couldn't praise this accommodation more highly. The setting is beautiful, the surrounding area abundant with all things traditionally French.
You can arrive here, unpack and allow yourself to absorb immediately into the rich culture of your surroundings. The delightful Bergerie has everything that you could possibly wish for. It's tastefully decorated with period pieces of furniture wich so suit the surroundings but also boasts modern and up to date fixtures and fittings such as an excellent shower and an outdoor kitchen area wich is a delight to use in the better weather. The chickens roam the grounds in the day time and when relaxing outside, the only sound to regularly break the peaceful silence is that of the sheep in the neighbouring field.
Making the stay all the more pleasant are your hosts, Hetty and Ruud.
They will welcome you with a drink after your journey, regularly check you have all that you need and are full of suggestions on how to fill your days in beautiful Normandy.
So at the risk of La Bergerie being unavailable next time I wish to book, I urge you to visit - you can't fail to enjoy!
Thank you so very much for this wonderful review Matthew....and left me to say that you and Leanne were wonderful guests and we really hope you will come back to explore the rest of Normandy.
